Installing Heated Seats

I was just wondering if anyone here has installed heated seats in their truck. This is about the only option my truck didn't come with and I think they'd be nice for the cold Washington weather. Is there a kit on the market that uses the pre-wired OEM connector (the lone connector floating around under the seats)? How much should I expect to pay for an OEM kit from Ford? Are the universal kits, like those found on ebay, a decent product? Here is one I'm looking at on ebay:

If you do this..please tell us how it turns out

It looks like the universal kit on ebay is a good deal, but I would have an upholstery shop install it and you can just plug it in rather than having to mess with the interior of our illustrious vehicles.

Sounds like a great idea rather than pay the evil stealership to do it.

I installed seat heaters in my 01 supercab and it was fairly easy. It makes it easier to remove the seats. The stock covers need to be peeled back enough to stick the seat heater to the cushion, You peel off the paper to expose the adhesive and stick the heater onto the foam. My stock covers attached to the frame with plastic clips, no hog rings at all. The wires come out the back/bottom of the seat cushion and I routed them down along the seat frame. My 01 was wired from the factory for seat heaters. I don't know if all xlt's have the wireing or not. There was a connector under the passenger seat that I spliced a couple of relays into then connected the heater wire looms to. The heaters I installed where from Check Corp. and had dual heat. I don,t know about the other brand of heaters but Check builds some of the OEMS and its what most upholstry shops around here install. I have had them for over 3 years and they are great.
Good Luck,
Mark
