Good question. I would also like to know what the options are. I'd like a box that fits flush (or slightly below) the bed rails and leaves a few inches free under the box to handle sheets of plywood, etc. Black would be best to go with the truck. I'm not looking for bed-jewelry. TIA.

I just drilled two holes on each side of the tool box and took some all-thread and bent it into u-bolts, used the stock tie down brackets and put some blocks inbetween the brackets and the tool box so it didn't bend. Could you read that last run-on sentence?

I did what most of you will feel is unthinkable. I drilled two holes through the mox and my bed and bolted it down. I didn't know how else to do it and I haven't had any problems. I think the Line-X will keep anything from rusting.

bigsherm77 Thanks.

That comes really close to what I'm looking for, except with my SCrew, I've already limited myself to a 5.5 foot bed. I'd need to mount mine up a few inches to avoid making it a 4.5 foot bed.

I like the box you chose. Perhaps some engineering is in order. If I get up the gumption to do it, I'll take pics...

IN BED BOX

I have short bed and also needed room under the box so I made my own brackets out of 3" box steel and 1 1/2" angle. Drilled holes in the box to match the holes for tie downs in bed, then I welded the angle iron to the box so the box was centered into the bed. Mounted the brackets and then slid the box in and screwed the box to the angle. I noticed the box rocked a little so I made feet out of 1" box, welded the ends closed and mounted them to the corners of the tool box to make it more stable. This raised the box about 6" off the floor which gives me room for plywood, 2x4s etc. Have had this set up for about 5 years and keep my tool box loaded, probably average of 200 lbs, and have had no problems.
