compare intakes
I just installed an Iceman in my truck yesterday! I got it to go with my new flowmaster 40 series SI/DO system! Havent driven it much since I just put it in, so dont know of any immediate gains, but I got the install done myself and I suck at that stuff. It was kind of a tight fit and took a little tugging and pulling to line things up, but looks like it will hold up! If you can return that and decide to get an Iceman got to genxmuscle.com (as previously mentioned), its the best deal I found after shopping around for sometime!
Let me know how you make out, and good luck with it!

Neck 4752, I too am considering the Iceman, but am not really all that mechanically inclined when it comes to autos. I know that some of the other guys have said that the installation is relatvely simple and should take less than hour. Was this true for you? Did the kit include clear instructions and all of the necessary parts and filter? I apologize if I sound naive. Thanks for your help. This would be my first real mod.
I'm dead serious when I say that I am not that great with auto install stuff either. The install was a little tricky because there are a few parts that have to be pulled to fit into place but basically its just rubber surrounds and tightening O rings. Pretty simple, and you keep the stock filter housing. The instructions that come with the intake kinda suck, they are step by step but say part numbers.
Go to www.icemanmotorsports.com
click products, then ford, and the kind of f150 engine that you have. It will then show the product and a description with an MSRP yada yada...
Anyway click installation instructions and it will show you a 11 step install job with pictures included. This is what I used.
Let me know what you go with, check out the website I gave you.

Don't worry if you got the AF1, My Dad put one in his truck and picked up 1.5 mpg in the city and 1mpg on the road. He is very happy getting 15-15.5 in the city and 18 on the road in an extended cab 5.4L 4X2 truck . Get what you want to get, they all do the same thing, better breathing, and then it depends on the look of the FIPK. My Dad likes the polished look under the hood, so that's what it got.
By the way, he pulled off 19mpg when he had about 1000lbs in the bed going up to Stockton from San Diego. I don't think the AF1 hurt his torque any when he gains mileage hauling a load. (avg speed 75-80) Go Figure!

I got my AF1 this afternoon, and i installed it about an hour ago. The first thing i noticed on start up was that it was a little noisy at idle, but that seemed to go away as soon as rpm picked up. Also my truck doesnt rev as much when started, it used to go to 2 grand when started and i started it twice and it went up to about 1200. Well anyway the kit looks real good installed. I took it for a drive and right away, no apperent differences in power were obvious. However the more i drove it the more i noticed that below about 15-1700 rpms there was more torque available, but on the upper end it seemed the same. Which seems kinda odd, but i will have to drive it awhile to see what kinda gains i have really gotten. I will post gas mileage later when i run a few tanks thru it. I just decided to go ahead and install the AF1 instead of waiting for a different intake. I did read that the AF1 is "supposed" to put out more hp and torque than any other intake out there, but this test was with stock exhaust which i dont have. Maybe the gains are a little less noticeable with exhaust. Well anyway theres the scoop for now.
