2008 factory nav

Will a factory nav out of a 2008 F150 (8l3t-18k931-cc) fit in my 2005 F150 without much problems?

I just wasn’t sure if all the connectors would match up. Also, I saw a few posts that mentioned that in some cases the head unit may need to be reprogramed.

It will mount plug and play no problem, but it will sound terrible. There was a change in how they did audio in 2007.

I had an 07 Nav in my 06 and had to have a lot of things re programmed just to sound decent. And decent was very good. You could have it turned to max and it sounded like it was barely turned up. In the end, it was cheaper and easier to get an aftermarket NAV.

Just something to think about.

Does anybody know what parts I will need to make this work right?
I was told the navigation antenna on an aftermarket unit will not plug into the OEM head unit.
What does the connector look like that hooks the satellite up to the head unit?
I’m also guessing I will need an antenna for the satellite unit

I’m starting to think this may not be worth it.

The OEM nav unit is set up to operate with the audiophile system. So it has the front tweeters and sub box under rear seat. That is why the sound is too high/tinsely until programmed correctly for the sound setup.

It is a little more difficult if your truck wasn't pre-wired for it. It seems 2007/2008 may have been, or at least 2007/2008s with audiophile were. My truck with audiophile is, and the window sticker states it also.

I found this picture under google search,
Here is an ad on Amazon Here is an ad on Amazon
at a ridiculous $1600 for an OEM Nav. And this picture below I snagged from the ad for visual reference here.

From the top left to bottom right:

The higher small red like one is the sat/nav antenna port.
Bottom left round port is the 2007/2008 style antenna. Its much smaller than 2004/2006 and has a male copper wire in it.
To the right of that, is the audiophile subwoofer port.
To the right of that, is a 1" plug all trucks have, I believe its speakers.
To the right of that, Sirius module port.
To the right of that, the main plug in harness, power pretty much.
And lastly, to the right of that, the AUX dash trey plug in, standard on all 2007/2008s.

My apologies for linking the other F150 forum, but on here, you can see all of these connectors and what they look like. This helped me a lot and helped me realize I was pretty much OEM Nav hook-up ready, aside of buying the Nav, and possible reprogramming for F150.

Hope this has been of help!

I decided to stick with my aftermarket Kenwood Nav for now. I put the 2008 OEM Navigation head unit and satellite module up for sale under Personal Classified\Parts & Accessories For Sale (2004 – 2008) if anyone is interested.

Thanks for all the help
