map update

I recently received a letter from Ford about map updates for the Nav system. I was wondering if anyone purchased the update CD, loaded it into thier Nav unit, then gave it to someone else to update theirs? I am looking at doing this. Thanks.

No way to just load it into the unit. The CD has to stay in it to work.
Same as the cd you have now. This is Not just a update but a completely new "updated" navigation cd. Toss the old one

I didn't know the CD had to stay in the unit, much less where to install it. I guess I'll start looking. Thanks!

What old one? Where is at? May sound stupid, but never seen it. Also, i can't believe with the price of the nav system that they can't give us a free update every now and then.

According to the "Clarion_Navigation_System_Application_Number_FAQs ", you have to put in a code from your nav system that creates a license specific to your vehicle.

Compmastr, thanks for the info. I think I may have found away around the license. Seems I need a little help from a programer. Thanks again!
