2010 Sony Navigation in 2007 FX4

I have searched and searched with no luck. So my question is:

If I buy a 2010 Sony Navigation head unit that came out of an Escape can I use it in my 2007 FX4. I know it will physicaly fit and the plugs look the same as the ones in my truck so I think it would work. I dont have stearing wheel controls or other options except the line in mini jack? The Sony headunit does come with the amp also.

Will this work? If not then why?

Thanks

There is no such thing as a Sony head unit. The 2010 Ford navigation unit is a Clarion unit. The vehicle may have had a Sony branded dsp amp in place of the standard 4 channel dumb amp that is standard with the new navi. Let me know what comes with this purchase, and I can help you more.

Pretty sure all 09+ up Fords use a CAN data system for the HU's, so no, your truck probably wont support the head unit.

I missed the year originally. The F150 changed to MSCAN in 2008. The Clarion unit would not work, but you could install the Pioneer DVD based unit plug and play as long as you get it programmed. Let me know if you have more questions.

08 year or 08 model year?

F150's didnt use CAN for turn on until the 2009 model year. I have done plenty of decks in 08 F150's that didnt require a CAN retention module.

You are correct all MY2009 and up F150 as well as superduty 250/350/450 are on MSCAN. Pre 09 were hardwired.
