OEM Navigation Unit?

Does anyone know of a place or person that sells OEM f150 nav units, i have a 07 f150 hd and would like to swap my regular radio with a nav unit. I read some older posts and heard about this guy named Mark (nothingbutaford) but i contacted him throught the email he put in one of his posts but the email comes back with a reciept failure, i havent tried the phone number he posted yet though but does anyone know if hes still doing this and how to get a hold of him, and do you know how much it is for one of these units. thanks.

I have an 07 Larait NAV unit in my truck and am planning to replace. How much are you planning to spend on the unit? I have not priced them yet.

I purchased mine from a seller on eBay named chgoparts. They had factory new Nav units bundled with the GPS antenna, the 8P map disc, and was preprogrammed for my truck. Getting a complete package like this was nice and made the install very easy - took only about 20 minutes to replace my audiophile 6-disc headunit.

You can probably find used ones or take outs for less money but you may have to deal with getting it programmed, locating an antenna or finding the latest map disc.

That's half price of what the dealer will charge. I think they go about $500 - $850 on ebay used. It's worth it to know you have everything there. It's a crappy unit as Navigation goes. The Sync unit in the 09+ is much better, and so are the portables. Keep in mind it's more than a nav, your replacing your radio too.

Why spend that much for a used factory nav when you can buy a new kenwood in dash nav system for 650. The kenwoods are so much better than the stocker.

Yah, i had thought about something like that but i just wanted to keep the clean stock look and be able to install something quick and simply with out any modifications. I am assuming that you have a kenwood unit in your truck, can you post pics so i can see what it looks like. thanks

i looked into geting the 09+ nav unit but there is way too much cost and work involved because you also have to integrate the sync system into the truck.

Well, since you asked, here it is

Mine is the DNX-7120 which you can no longer get new (its an 08 model) the one for $650 is the DNX-5140, smaller screen, can play DVD, has a usb input, optional ipod, sat radio, HD radio, and bluetooth adapters. And all kenwoods can be bypassed for the dvd just by grounding the parking brake wire, unlike the pioneers where you have to bend over backwards and jump thru hoops to bypass the dvd.

The problem is I've never seen it in action, so not sure, just not sure. Maybe it is a good choice to look into.

Search ebay

Do you have a picture of the nav map screen?

No, I bought it from crutchfield and they throw in the mounting kit, harness adapters and antenna adapter for 07-up trucks. All you have to do is splice the harness adapter to the harness out of the new HU and bolt it in. After you have the harness made up you can have it in and running in about 10 minutes.

Mine is the 5140, I absolutely Love it. The Nav is Garmin, I like the smaller screened unit because I wanted a **** for the volume that I could just grab and turn without looking for a button, and I wanted to avoid motorized screens (though I do agree that the larger screen makes for a very clean install).

Sorry about the fingerprints, I should have dressed up for the pictures...

There are peripherals that need to be purchased along with the HU... IF you want the Bluetooth, the 6140 has that integrated into the unit, otherwise I just added BT with a module, I added Sirius with another module, and lastly I installed the steering wheel controls with another box. I shopped around and found them all for prices cheaper than were offered on crutchfield, but All-In-All... my setup was still cheaper than the factory Ford unit would have cost (from the dealership), and I believe it out performs it in almost every way. Look in my album for more pics.... I didn't take any pics of the install, sorry.

Good Luck...
