Hardwireing GPS

I am trying to Hard wire my Garmin Gps into my truck, I had it plugged into the rear power but my kids kept bumping into it and breaking the plug. I really didnt want it in the dash outlets only because I dont like the wiring hanging out. So I ran the wiring down through the dash and under the center conole where I ran the wires to the back of the rear power outlet (which is always hot). That worked fine but I am never satisfied and bordom kicks in and I decided that I would like it to run off a switch. So I now ran out, Got the switch and did what I thought was right but apparently isn't. there are 3 prongs on the back of the switch, One I know goes to the chasis ground, The other two I tried every which way I could and w/ no luck it is not working the Gps. So I am once again here on the forum hoping someone here has done this and could tell me exactly where to run these wires so I can turn the unit on and off by the switch. If you have a diagram it would be even better. Thanks. If you do have a diagram could you please leave me the link or email it to me at larog72@yahoo.com? Thanks Again..

You could always just tap switched power and avoid the need for the switch all together? Makes life a lot easier...

I bought a hardwire plug for my NUVI 660 and tapped it into the radio power source. Looks clean. Comes on automatically when I start my truck and shuts off when I turn off the truck.

one is ground, one is 12V, and the other is the wire to the nav power.
