Unhappy 2003 Expedition A/V Help needed

OK So through the numerous threads on this site I did my research and had enough time set aside to install my Eclipse AVN5510 in my 03 Eddie B Exp that had OEM 6 disc HU and the Rear Entertainment System (With Wired Headphones through the center console) and the subwoofer in the rear.

Monday - I wired everything up, Subwoofer Pops - (I know I need the Resistor) so that works, and the TV powers up and plays the video, and the Eclipse plays Radio or DVD with the P/B Bypass (COUGH COUGH) for front row view. So I'm good RIGHT??? WRONG!!!

NOW HERE'S MY DILEMMA: (DRUM ROLL PLEASE) Let the fun begin!

The sound for the Rear DVD does not play through the (WIRED) headphones anymore.

So again I remembered the research from this forum and it was suggested that the radio might have to be left in the dash in order for the DVD system to operate properly. So I spend most of my Tuesday Hacking up my dash and rewiring the wires in order to accomodate my NEW Eclipse and the Hidden in the dash OEM radio to then still not have any sound for the rear system. HELP!

MY GOAL:
is to have the Rear DVD system work independantly from the Eclipse HU. I DO NOT want the Rear DVD to play through the trucks speakers - ONLY through the headphones.

So Let's Recap:
I have power to the Eclipse HU - CHECK
I have powered the OEM HU with only PWR, GRD and stuffed it in the dash - CHECK
I have powered the OEM Sub - CHECK
I have powered the Rear DVD - CHECK

How do I get sound from the DVD to play on the wired Headphones??????????

I know that there are 3 harnesses that plug into the back of the OEM radio; 1 for power, speakers etc, the other for the rear Sub but does anyone have a pin layout for the 3rd harness in the radio???? I think that my answer lays in that 3rd harness that extensive research has been unsuccessful.

Something else that I learned:
I also took apart the rear of the center console which has the Climate Control and the Rear Audio/Video controls along with the Jacks for the Headphones and I noticed that if I unplug the Audio plug the Rear Speakers stop working.

CAN-BUS Question: So I guess that 03 was the 1st year that FORD decided to cross over into the CANBUS world so my question: Is the canbus operation conducted within the OEM RADIO or is there a CANBUS brain (BOX) located somewhere remotely in the truck?

1 thing that I did to my Chrysler 300 (which is CANBUS SYSTEM ALSO) and I wanted to add AMPS, and Subwoofers but keep the OEM Headunit because it was a NAV unit and I really liked the operations of it. I wired a Sound Processor (MTX reQ5) AFTER the OEM Amp and then ran RCA's from the MTX to the AMP's that would eventually power the interior speakers and subs. I managed to trick the CANbus to think that it's still performing all of its functions however the Audio was powered through aftermarket amps.

So my thoughts is that I could trick (or even Bypass by rewiring) the CANbus system in the truck in order to manipulate it into what I want it to do. ANY THOUGHTS??????

As you can see I am not scared of hard work but at this point I am lost on where I should go. Worst case I would buy a new Rear Ent System for the kids but why spend more money when I have a perfectly good working unit already there. Just need to figure out how to get it working properly again.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.

Thats a tough one man. Ive never had any experience with your paticular situation, but what we have done in the past for customers that want to retain their factory aux in is take an rca cable, plug red/white into the audio outs from your DVD, cut the other ends off, and connect those directly to the headphone jacks. You just have to figure out what wires in the OEM jack match up with the RCA.

As for canbus, its usually done through the radio. There is usually an interface harness that retains all factory features, but Ive never seen one for a Ford until the Syncs came out.

Thanks Sundevil, The more and more I read and follow threads the more and more I am convinced that the solution lies in that 3rd harness which function is unknown to everyone.

1 question though how would I test which wire from my DVD Harness is the Audio Outs???

Is there a specific multi-meter reading that I should be looking for???

Hardwiring RCA's directly into the Audio outs of the dvd and then to the headphone jacks would elimanate the need of storing the OEM radio in the dash. Which I am all for.

I know that someone has got to know the answer out there somewhere.

I'm sure since you last posted this in 2009 you already found a solution, don't have the car anymore, or bought some other TV.
But I had this same issue and found that there are jumpers inside the Ford TV that need to be changed.

Here is what needs to be done.

This will be good for others who have the same issue.
