nav head unit recomendations

I am looking for a good head unit that is double din and has navigation for my 02 screw.i currently have a garmin on the dash and I like it but I HATE the power cable running across the dash.can anyone recomend a good unit preferrably w/ a cd player and sat radio. i am looking for somthing w/ front/rear/subwoofer outputs as well. I currently have an Alpine 9856 but I am willing to concider other brands. I don't need ipod controls but would like to plug in my mp3 player thanks!!

If I was going to get in dash nav, I'd go for a Kenwood. They use Garmin navigation, which is pretty hard to beat IMO.

nav unit

I went for the JVC KW-NT1 (currently waiting for the ups guy to drop it off), because it was the only double din with a detachable face plate that I could find, and my ride sits in a park and ride lot all day. I've already been hit once, and they just stole some catalytic converters a couple of weeks ago, so the anti-theft thing was crucial for me.

Of course this is a matter of budget, and since you have an Alpine unit now that you are not displeased with why not continue. Alpine has several units that may fit the bill. iXA-W404, the least expensive with the smallest screen, IVA-W203, and the IVA-W505, the most expensive. All are 2 DIN. The Nav units can be purchased and added later if need be. The PND-K3, PND-K3MSN, NVE-P1, and PMD-B200 Nav units are slot mounted in the head unit or mounted in another location. I have the IVA-W505 with the Blackbird 200(PMD-B200). I like this unit because the Nav is Bluetooth and is portable which gives me a hand held unit as well as being able to use in another vehicle. These are just some of the choices that Alpine has. The choice is yours.

I just finished installing a Kenwood 8120 in my '07 SCrew. It has all the features you want and more. My favorite feature is the ability to split zones. I can have Sirius on in the front and the DVD audio in the back with the headrest monitors. It also has a usb input that I ran into the glovebox so I can connect a jump drive with a ton of mp3's.

I have the Eclipse AVN 5435... IMO it is a great head unit.

a few short comings but all in all a great unit. I have the sirius box, Ipod controller and Nav / Video.

Easy to trick it to allow GPS Mods / Vid while driving too.

Good Luck with your install!!

I have the kenwood 7120 in my 07 scab, all the modern kenwoods with nav have it built in, whereas the older ones had an extra box for the nav unit. The 7120 and 8120 have a usb port so you plug in a generic MP3 player, or just use a jump drive. Also kenwoods are real easy to bypass the dvd lockout, you just ground the parking brake wire and it all works, moving or not. Add on sat radio boxes are available, sirrus and XM, so is television, bluetooth (8120 comes with bluetooth), and cd changer if you want it.

I have the Pioneer F90BT and it has all the features of the Kenwood above with bluetooth included. If I was going to pick between too it would be the Pioneer or the Kenwood both are fantastic units.

I have the new AVN726E.... upgraded from the 5435 (I wish I still had it.

I wouldn't recommend a 726 to anyone, unless you careless about having a clock, and don't mind waiting (up to a minute) for it to find the sats.

And its not as user friendly as it could be.

I'm running the Kenwood Excelon DDX8019 with Nav, Satellite, Navtraffic, TV tuner and ipod. Travis that owns KC Autosound is selling this exact unit in the classifieds section of the site right now. (Radio, navigation, bluetooth, xm/navtraffic tuner). Great chance to get a hell of a package. I had the DNX7100 previously in my truck. My friend and I drove down to Kansas City to have Travis work on his STX. After sitting in his demo truck and seeing/hearing this one I figured I was sold and transferred my 7100 to my wife's vehicle.

I have a Pioneer Avic Z3 and I really like it. DVD, HDD, Nav, BT, backup cam, voice control, and Gracenote. I recently upgraded the hard drive, so now I can put ALL the music I own on the hard drive with no need for cd's or thumb drives (got that ability too).

I was looking at a Clarion one that was pretty reasonable on price but I could not tell which Navigation it used. I have an Alpine head unit with a Garmin unit that sends a audio/video signal to the alpine screen. I really like the Garmin Navigation.

Kp-
I havent purchased any unit yet but I like the JVC that you have! Does it have switchable illumination? I'm kinda picky bout it matching the dash lighting.
