back up camera help

I am wanting to hook up a backup camera in my 07 fx4. I was really wanting to use the '09 emblem camera but after doing some reading I found that they mount different so it won't work. So now I am going to the '08 tailgate handle mount. I curently dont have the backup camera in my truck. So what do i need to make this install. I want to hook it to my nav unit but do i still need to get the camera rear view mirror?

I have it hooked to my head unit. It works great. You do not need the mirror.

I bought the handle assembly and a camera off ebay which was $ 24.00

41mm x 29mm diameter face

You will need a multi bit drill bit to make the stock hole bigger to fit the camera.

You have three things to connect. Power, Video, and ground. real easy setup

Im pretty sure the factory nav unit does NOT accept an incoming video signal, somebody correct me if im wrong. You will either need to buy the rear view mirror with display, or replace the nav unit with aftermarket unit ready for reverse cam.

he is correct....that is why Ford has the mirror....people didnt want to pay $2500 for nav and camera so using the mirror as the display made more sense cost wise

Yes, it can be done into the nav screen.

You need to get a hold of Suzanne Lazarev over at Nav-tv. Just tell her Ryan Py (from the insider sent you)
