Navigation Update

Anyone else a little p'd that Ford wants $149 to update the Navteq package? Anyone got any inside lines on a cheaper way. Found it on ebay for $95, but still I spent $40,000 on my KR and now they want more. Geez.

Lexus gets $250 for annual update. ebay is a good source. Better yet, just skip a year and get an update next year. You're not going to see much difference in the update.

When I went from the 4P version to 7P I noticed a big difference in the speed of the Nav and the newer POI's. There was also a few newer roads on there. I agree the disc is WAY over priced. Sometimes you can find them cheap on Ebay.

7P is the newest (2008) disc. I noticed the system runs quicker: updates, reroutes, announces quicker. And there a lot more roads that wherer missing on the older 4p disc. Of course there's more / newer POI's also!

Can the disc (DVD?) be re-used? Or copied?

I'm not sure what you mean by re-used? The map disc has to stay in the unit for the navigation to be functional.

I've heard of moderate success of people copy dual layer map discs. Of course it's not legal
