i got this unit and it plays dvds perfectly but says error6 when i put in a music cd. why is that? anyway i am looking for an ipod to eliminate having to use a cd. any suggestions on an ipod. i dont care a price just one that plays videos and music. what is a good one? i heard it has to be "3rd generation" i think?

 

I have a 3rd generation (80gb) ipod and it's awesome. I have over 800 songs, over 60 pictures and 2 full length movies stored on it so far and still have 70gb of free space available. I can never imagine a point when I have this thing filled up. Highly recommend this ipod.

sounds like the has the 80G ipod classic, same one ive got, 1870 songs and a bunch of tv shows and still have like 67gs free. 3rd gen is just the newest version of it with all the new software, its got the new things like coverflow and what not.

Yep that's exactly what I have. For some reason I thought it was the 3rd Gen, but nope, it's the ipod classic.

yeah i know i have to get the cable to hook it up. is 3rd generation a brand or what? Im sorry im so clueless on this topic. Thats why im just looking for someone to say "get this cause it is the best and it will hook up"! a cost doesnt matter so if you know a 3rd generation ipod can you please tell me the name of it as it would be on ebay or an online store? such as "ipod classic 80gb". thanks fellas im just very ignorant when it comes to ipods!

i have 2 12s and a amp hooked up to it. I know this was an old post but im still trying to pick an ipod. some peeps say the classic wont work and sum say it will. I just want it to be able to play music and video/movies on this headunit. can anyone post an 80gb ipod product number or picture of it that they know for sure works for songs and videos? im not good with the generation thing. sorry for buggin but gettin kinda desperate and dont wanna get the wrong thing. Thanks fellas. Just wanna know what to walk in the store and tell them what i need. thanks!!

 

the classis works fine for me but I think you have to make sure it is version 4 or better

 

yeah i was thinking that the classic should work if it was 4gen or newer. you can scroll thru everything on the ipod thru ur headunit huh? even the vids? where did you get ur ipod from? thanks bro

 

got mine on ebay. You can scroll thru all your music. It acts just like the ipod. Now with the video. The only con is that when you choose the video selection on the clarion, you actually have to get to the ipod to start the movie. Once you are in a movie however you can ffw or rewind and skip to other movies.I leave mine in the glove box and only need to open it when i start movies.Its pretty cool for music videos too.

 

aight sounds good... thanks alot bro! one more thing do you download the music and videos from limewire or something like that and then just put them on your ipod? yea it will be cool to play music videos. hell might *** well play music videos all the time instead of just the song. i got 12.2" monitors going in the visors so then it will be real tight!
