Kenwood DNX7100 vs. Pioneer AVIC-D3

Looking into both of these units, which do you guys prefer, if you have either one?

Can you access Artists,Genre,Play list, Etc. on screen by letter without having to scroll?? Once song is selected, does all info show up on screen?

Can you change the color of the button and on screen menu's??

The Navigation, does it run laggy or miss turns? Run off HD or DVD- Pros and Cons to this, never used a Nav system before

Can you ground it out to access DVD full play??

Would you recommend blue tooth link or no.. I have an LG 8550

How is installation? Does it fit flush and smooth?

Thanks

DNX7100 here
1. Can's answer yet, waiting on my ipod cable. But it does have a three line information screen on MP3s that I burned on a DVD.
2. Can not change colors but you can upload 3 images for backgrounds.
3. Runs great off the 2gb internal SD card. My bud has the the avic-d3 and he was impressed with the nav on my 7100
4. Yes, you just ground the brake wire for DVD playback.
5. Yes, my kit should be here hopefully sometime this week. Here is a list of compatible phones, might not be up to date though. http://www.kenwood.com/bt/bt100/en.html#01
6. Look at my pics...pretty flush if you ask me.

Does the screen fold out of the unit and rotate up??

I know that Avic-D3 is just a stationary screen and no movement

I install a lot of D3 and DNX7100 units for the dealerships and customers. A lot of the customers love the fact that the DNX7100 has an adjustable screen allowing you to actually pivot it downwards to fight the glare on the screen. The F150 has a slighly tilted dash and on the D3 you have to crank the brightness up quite a bit to see it in direct light.

The top portion of the screen folds down; with the bottom portion of the screen folding out.

Here are some pics here:

I just installed a DNX7100 in my SCREW KR.

Can you access Artists,Genre,Play list, Etc. on screen by letter without having to scroll?? Once song is selected, does all info show up on screen?
> Do not know yet, I installed the ipod adapter but do not have an ipod.

Can you change the color of the button and on screen menu's??
>Buttons stay the same color.

The Navigation, does it run laggy or miss turns? Run off HD or DVD- Pros and Cons to this, never used a Nav system before.
>Nav has zero lag. It is HDD so no discs are required. Recalculates routes real quick. I have tried to confuse it by taking wrong turns, it just recalculates and tells you where to turn next. So far it shows all of the small roads & cul-de-sacs I have passed. The Nav is made by Garmin.

Can you ground it out to access DVD full play??
> Yes, very easy to ground out. Just attach the green wire to metal and your done.

Would you recommend blue tooth link or no.. I have an LG 8550
> Definatly get the bluetooth. I have a Motorola Razr. People I talk with comment how clear the connection is. When a call comes in the stereo mutes and automatically goes to the phone. The front stereo speakers handle the incoming audio. Hang up and the stereo/CD come back on to your previous volume level. After you sync the phone and download your phonebook you do not even have to take the phone out of your pocket. It hooks up automatically when you get into your truck. And yes, you can make outgoing calls to your hearts content.

How is installation? Does it fit flush and smooth?
> I installed the radio, bluetooth adapter, steering wheel controller, back up camera, front & rear speakers in the course of two days. Now I could do it quicker as 30 years between radio installs is a bit long. I put two #10 washers behind the two top bracket trim mounting screws. The bracket assembly now fits flush all the way around. The screen has 7? angles you can set it to. I have it set so the screen is parallel with the dash.

I highly recommend the DNX7100. Not sorry in the least about passing up the Eclipse (Z2 was my second choice).
