why and how would you get the oem part? and why would you not just want to get a pioneer avic d3 or avic z2?

how much can you get the ford nav unit for?

You can get them reasonably priced on e-bay. Some are a bit more than others because they are specific for your vehicle, BUT all of the units can be reflashed to work in just about any newer ford. I have one in my 07 FOcus (and factory NAV was not even an option in that car), and once I had the unit set up, it was as simple as install an antenna and install the unit. No cutting hacking, and it looks factory fresh...

I won't quote prices here - but feel free to e-mail me as I have a couple knocking around.....

Factory Nav

So if I understand you correctly the Ford nav units, 2004 and newer will work with my 04 F150. If that is correct can I intergrade factory Satillite radio as a part of the install as well?

They work but they won't support the rear DVD system.

I had it, tested it, worked with NothingbutaFord and we did a ton of tests.

I thought it was a great system but the rear dvd bit was a killer.

It will in fact work.

The problem is with the DVD system itself and not the NAV unit or even the wiring for that matter. Mark programmed my NAV system, added the aux input and Sirius for my 05 KR (thanks man!). However I had a similiar issue as you with the DVD that I was able to research and resolve on my own, without buying a new one. In fact it only cost me $50.

To the first poster- Go for it. The NAV unit is cool, nice factory look. There is nothing I don't like about it. The RSE is pretty flexible too if you have it. I relocated the inputs on the RSE and am actually using the aux video input on the RSE as a fourth display for my PS2, Ipod video and Alpine 6 disk dvd changer. The RSE audio inputs serve as a master volume for all devices/functions, that's controlled through my NAV headunit and mutes everything when the NAV lady is talking. Pics and system diagram are in my "interior" gallery

Well I'd like to know how....drop me an email.

I spent tons of time with Mark working on getting the RES to work and it wouldn't.

You realize they changed the interior boards between 04 and 05 right?

Vader

This site has cost me thousands, but has saved me just as much so Ill post for all to see.

If you're refering to the interior board of the DVD then yes im aware. My truck was built in 11/04 so i have the second run of those boards. Its actually the third iteration and later that doesn't have a problem, and its a software issue. There lies the solution. Your RSE would simply have to be updated. There is a Ford factory method to that madness and evidently certain companies can order it in their normal course of business. The guy that did mine works for a company that does that sort of thing for manufacturers. Ill look for their site. Very fair too, because they could have charged me 5 times as much and i wouldnt have flinched. Mine works perfect BTW

Mark mentioned something about an adapter, but that was the last i heard, which sounded promising, but i couldnt wait. That was 7 months ago and im surprised that wouldnt work. I didnt think the aux input could be added after the fact and he made that happen

I'd be interested so whenever you can I'd appreciate it. I loved the factory NAV.
