ready to pull the trigger on avic-D3 need some tips

i really like this unit seems like its exactly what i want the only downfall is the dvd loaded navigation and only one dvd rom. for the price i'll just use the i-pod more.

my questions are,
1. where are people mounting there navigation antennas? and pics would be greatly appreciated.
2. can you make it so you can watch dvd while driving, if yes, how?
3. and id love to see all the mounting kits people are using, because i want the most flush looking kit.

any help would be awesome. im really starting to get addicted to this site

1. I put my nav antenna under the dash on a defrost duct. Stuck the supplied metal plate to the duct and put the antenna on it. Sorry no pic but you can see when you pull your OEM radio. Never had a problem with reception.
2. Yes. Go to avic411.com for a bunch of info on bypassing the D3.
3. I used the Metra 99-5807, I think it will fit yours too. Here is a pic:

I also used a Scosche FD23 wiring harness.

Go for it

Behind the radio and under the tray on top is a metal bar. It works well inside the bar. It will make sense when you see it. Save the plastic/foil metal square. They are Godlike when doing sat radio and other things.

Another pic of a D3 installed.

Installation was easy. Bypass was easy. If you have the audiophile sub-woofer then the 5k OHM resistor works like a charm and the bass response is actually very, very good from the sub-woofer.
