Clarion with audiophile

Has anybody installed the MAX675 in there truck with the Audiophile system. The installer up here tells me that if I install the MAX675 I lose the amp and sub. Is there any other options?

That shop is tripping. They don't come easier that that. Do it yourself. Get a Metra 95-5812 double din mounting kit and a Metra 70-5521 for the audiophile system. This harness will allow you to maintain the subwoofer. Make sure you put a 1.5k ohm resister inline for the remote turn on lead so that you don't get a "POP" from the subwoofer.

Sounds to me he's trying the old "we gotta rewire the whole system or we can sell you a new sub and amp" routine.

Metra 96-5812

Metra 70-5521

Thanks. I talked to the installer and he claimed that they deal with Scosche harness' and that Scosche doesn't have a harness for that application. Sounds like he's back peddling. Does anyone have the Sirius system hooked up on the MAX675? Any comments on the operation?

Hey KC. I used that metra bracket for that unit. I wanted to mount it flush but I have to push it out all the way maybe about half an inch sticks out, because it wouldnt open flush. Anyway around this.

in order to do that you will have to trim the area below the radio I think so that it will allow the unit to hinge open. Which in that case you might wind up with a gap. You're going to have to allow for some of the radio to stick out in order for it to hinge right.

KC,
I have read on 2 different posts that you do and that you don't have to trim the bottom in order for the radio to open and close properly. Do I have to trim it if I use a Metra Install kit? I have a 05 F150 and the shop I had the radio installed at trimmed the bottom piece but did a very poor job of it. I am lloking to buy a Metra Kit and do it myself. Thank again!

I don't understand why there are problems with this. I haven't had to trim anything when I install these using the Metra kits. I'm installing two Kenwood double dins tomorrow and I'll try to see where people are having problems with.

I might just be that we havent found the right setup there are some many hole configurations on the side. But when mine was flush with the dash it was catching and would'nt open.
