W205 ???

I finally ordered the IVA-W205 and I also have headrest monitors. My question is will I be able to hook up the W205 so that I can listen to music (either the Ipod or Sirius) while I use the DVD player in the W205 to transmit the video to the rear monitors? If so, how does it need to be hooked up?

I also ordered both Ipod cables, 1 for audio and 1 for the video. I still need to find a deal on the Sirius tuner.

Will my GPS antenna be OK on the right side corner of the dash? I heard that it needed to be on the roof so 3 satellites could see it for 3D mapping, but I would be willing to give up that feature for the simplicity of mounting the antenna on the dash inside of the truck.

When I get the Blackbird II, will I be able to operate the navigation while the vehicle is in motion without bypassing the video as I don't really care about being able to view DVDs while driving; or should I just get the bypass kit?

Sorry for all of the questions and thanks for any help.

Also forgot to ask, is the Metra install kit a good one and does anyone have pictures of that kit with a double din unit installed in an F150? Thanks again.

You should be able to view the gps while in motion, be kind of odd if it was blocked out. GPS is generaly used while in motion, and most other vehicles allow the gps to be visible while moving.
A bypass kit is always handing to have anyway tho, they are pretty cheap on ebay and easy to install.

I am pretty sure you can play a dvd in the rear while listening to music in the front, not sure how it is to be hooked up tho, you may require headphones to listen to the dvd in the rear. The owners manual should clear all that up for you, if you dont have your 205 as of yet, the manual is available on Alpines website.

I have the metra kit in my truck and it looks great. The plastic matches the plastic around the airbag light above the radio pretty close. Sorry I dont have any picture, my camera was splashed by some killer whales the day before I installed mine.

You will love the 205, especialy with an ipod. Alpine has a great setup for Ipod comptability.

Some of these are repeats as Coby answered some for you:

I have the Alpine W200 and dual headrest screens. All you do is hook the Aux output from your W205 to the input on the headrest controllers. My headrests hook to a central controller that send video to both. Then you can listen to whatever you want up front and the headrests will play the DVD and they can listen thru headphones.

I have my Sirius antenna on the right dash corner and my GPS on the left dash corner. Both work great with no problems.

I have the original Blackbird with a docking station and I can use it while in motion with no problems.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies, that helps out a lot. I knew you could view the GPS while driving but I had heard that some units would not let you program the GPS while the vehicle is in motion, which always seems stupid to me.

My Blackbird has a warning screen that pops up saying "If you are the driver, please pull over". The docking station has a hand brake wire that I thought would have to be hooked up to allow programming while driving but it did not. I can program mine while driving with no special hookups. The new docking Blackbird II may be different though.

I got my W205 at Tweeter for $899. I think that Crutchfield has it for the same as well.

I took a chance and ordered mine from Ebay for $675 delivered. I know warranty can be iffy, but I saved 225+ so like I said I took a chance. It arrived brand new 2 days after I ordered it and I can't wait to get it installed, just waiting on other components.

BTW, there are several auctions on Ebay right now for these at or around $700.
