Ford factory NAV?

I own a 2007 F-150 Lariat with sirius, audiophile and mp3. I recently bought a navigation system off of Ebay. It came out of a 2007 Navigator, I believe. I know that I probably needed to have it reprogrammed to my truck, but should it have at least turned on when I plugged it in to see if it worked? I hated to send it off to have it reprogrammed if it was dead. All that happened was the lights lit up on the side panels. Does that mean the unit doesn't work? Thanks

If you're not sure what vehicle it came from, you may be in a little trouble. If it's not compatible to your setup, you may be SOL! It's difficult to get a unit reprogrammed once you've purchased it. Not sure, but it seems that the unit should at least play once you plugged it in. Features like steering wheel controls wouldn't work if it was just a programming issue. Sounds like it's DOA. You may have gotten a bum deal. - Og

Call Mark, Nothingbutaford, he reprogramed mine for way cheaper than $350. I would be kinda worried about the unit though, mine was out of a montaineer and it powered up fine and the tracking for the NAV would not work until it was programed. Once it was programed it worked.

I have warned people about the ebay business and what to watch for. And to be honest reprograming ebay and used radios has been quite a hassle lately, because of a few people causing problems and antagonizing my other customers. I have gotten a few radios that simply DO NOT WORK. I had one guy tell me I broke it on purpose so he would be forced to buy a new one from me. The unit didn't work for him BEFORE he sent it to me HELLO!!!! And another accused me of selling his radio to someone else and even went so far as emailing a few of my customers directly to say so. And by the way, just a note to that person, my customers know how I operate and are quite loyal to me because of the service I provide. Please understand my customers that purchase a radio directly from me take priority and are usually shipped same day as the order is taken, however I cannot guarantee the same for reprogramming of customers radios. I can and will reprogram radios, but please understand, there is still a big risk when buying from places like ebay and salvage yards. Reprogramming will not fix a broken radio.

yep, mark seems to be a really nice guy....i gave him a call...really want a nave unit for 06 f150....the price was reasonable compared to others i have seen (for a new headunit) but i just couldn't afford it right now...sorry mark...i give the man props...he seems to be quite honest and i've never heard anything bad about his service and you couldn't ask for a nicer guy to talk to on the phone. oh, Mark, i wasn't yanking your chain when i called...just can't afford it right now...when paramedic pay goes up a little, you will be the first person i call my friend cause i still want that nav unit! if you have the financial means, i would suggest calling nothinbutaford for your hu's

There are some different wiring stuff going on with the 2007 Navigator that might be an issue with it not turning on for you when plugged into your truck.

A few weeks ago I went to install a Ford Mobile Ease bluetooth kit into a 2007 Navigator. I install about 5 of these a week in other vehicles. Everything plugs up fine but guess what....NO POWER. After doing some research on the tech site for Ford Accessories it turns out that there is going to be some sort of updated harness that will let the mobile ease work later this year. Seams that there might be some different pins or something but I don't have the new harness to compair yet.

This might be the issue with yours. I know that you are dealing with two completely different systems here. Alot of later model 2007 Fords will be changing thier wiring configuration. There will not be a accessory turn on wire coming from the factory harness. On these vehicles I have to either run a accessory turn-on from an ignition source or get a new harness from Metra which is a XSVI-5520. I believe the Navigator is the same way which would explain the non-turn-on problem.
