The new Eclipse AVN 6610

The new Eclipse Head Unit http://www.eclipse-web.com/avn/avn66...sual.html#dual is either out or about to be released and it looks like they addressed some of the shortcomings that people complained about in the AVN6600. I just got my AVN6600 and am thinking about sending it back and getting this unit cause it adds blue tooth....but I already spent my 300 dollar gift card from crutchfield that I got soooooo I may not send it back since I doubt I will ever even use the blue tooth deal.

Can someone tell me all of the differences in the 6600 and the 6610 ??? I dont know that much about them so I dont know how to compare.

Thanks,

Otis Da Whino

Plug in play into a stock ford harness. Then you just add your stereo adapter that you modifed to plug into the ford harness and you have bluetooth. I'm running this in my tacoma at the moment and plan to switch over into my 150 when I get it in the next week or two.

When you say it has a new map mode for city streets do you mean that my AVN6600 is not going to show the smaller city streets ???? Maybe I dont understand that one......please explain.

Thanks,

The 6610 will zoom in to 75' while the 6600 zooms to 150 for street level. This only pertains to the areas that are mapped that way. If you see the street level icon on your screen it will zoom to 150' when you press it.

Works great. Don't even give the 6610 a second thought. Both units have almost all the exact same features the few diferences are nothing an owner of a 6600 should worry about.

How about the ipod lag that is talked about on the 6600. Does anyone know if that was resolved? I am also looking for something like this and I am torn on my decision between the w200/205 or 6600/6610 now.

Thanks in advance.

Coooooool......good to know......soooo what about the Ipod lag ??? Is it bad on the 6600 ???? I am about to do the install within the next week or so. I will post photos along the way and when it is done. My biggest thing is I dont know where to mount the Xbox. I am using the drivers side rear for the sub and the passenger side rear for my 5 channel amp soooo my only option is to use some quick connects and make a mount right behind the console and be able to take it in and out. Any other suggestions on a mounting location ????

Thanks,

iPod Lag?

I have the AVN6600 with iPod. There's no lag. It was the Pioneer Z1 people complaining about iPod lag.

Don't worry, you'll be happy with the AVN6600. It has served me well for quite some time now. Nothinbutaford gave you some sage advice as there are just not that many improvements to AVN6610. The AVN5510 vs the AVN5500 is a different story. I've always felt the AVN5500 owners who thought they were going to get great iPod support were cheated. The AVN5510 corrects that and finally gives them the same full iPod support for iPods that AVN6600 and AVN7000 owners have had since their introduction.

Take a look at these pics and you'll see some of the actual screens for the iPod. Very similar to using an iPod by itself.

Most info has already been covered, but to add...

Less lag on iPod than the 6600 which was virtually none to begin with.

ETA is late February/Early March..

SRP: $1899, MAP $1699

For the Bluetooth (Parrot) BT-E600 SRP $169

AVN6610BT (includes BT) SRP $1949 MAP $1749
