2004 Screw - AVIC Z1 Install - Step by Step
yeah i'm a UGA fan, I was in Atlanta this past weekend for the peach bowl. That trip also served as the first major test for my navi system. Have to say it worked pretty well. I printed map quest directions just to have a back up form since I really hadn't tested my navi system yet. The navi system was pretty much spot on, and when I rolled up to my hotel it said I had arrived at my destination. It had very detailed information about which lanes to be in and everything. The D2 doesn't have the 3d look of the z1, but when you're arriving at a major intersection the screen switches to a very detailed look showing exact lane information.
Not sure about a buzz still coming from the sub, did you ground that middle pin on that regulator i told you about? If so, double and tripple check all connections and all your ground connections. I grounded everthing to a large bolt near the drivers side kick panel on the center console. Only buzzing i encountered was during the instilation of my PS2, but i quickly resolved that by additional grounding.

Yep - I was at the game too. What a comeback!
I'll double check all of my connections - I did ground the regulator middle pin.
So you ground the wire coming from the pioneer harness and everything else to this bolt? Did you just extend the ground wires? If so, is there a specific wire type you need to extend them?

Duke had a similar problem with his sub but he had a metra kit (dunno what CF sends you). Found out that the shield wire (the black one) doesn't have a receiving wire on the metra harness. Might want to check and see if yours does.
Yeah - I think I found his post on avic411.
Here is a diagram of what I have:

Originally, I had my 2 RCA connectors together. I have insulated each now.
Here is the back of the Crutchfield subwoofer harness:

There are two small black wires in the second position from the left, then nothing in the 3rd space, then the two power outputs.
Is that 3rd space the one that is causing me the problem possibly? I will have to further look at the factory harness to validate later.

Learning as I go here...
I did verify that the shield ground wires in the pic in my previous post did NOT line up with the ground wire on the OEM sub harness. Called crutchfield, and they told me to pull the pins and move them over. I did.
Is it unheard of that these adapter harnesses can sometimes be wrong?
I'll test this tomorrow...

Tested the harness after changing the wires. Buzz is eliminated. Still have the subwoofer pop, but have not installed the regulator. Also - when I turn the truck off, I get a weird short buzz. Anyone know what this might be?
