Thump in subwoofer after AVN6600 install
Thump in subwoofer after AVN6600 install
I just got the Eclipse AVN6600 installed today in my 2006 King Ranch. Each time I turn on the ignition, I get a quick thump noise from my subwoofer. The installation tech stated that this is what happens with the factory subwoofer. Has anyone else experienced this problem with their unit? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I installed my avn6600 today and have the same problem. I have an aftermarket amp and sub. I think if you wire the remote wire from the amp to the ignition swithed wire it will eliminate this problem. I plan on doing this later. I will let you know if this works.
Since I am not too electronically inclined, what do I need to tell the installation tech when I take my truck back? Does he need to connect the remote wire from the factory subwoofer to the ignition switch wire? I need help.
Yes, you want the remote wire hooked to the 12 volt egnition wire. this wire only gets power when you turn the key on which "in turn" gives a signal to your amp that runs your factory sub to turn on. I think that when the eclipse radio comes on it sends a burst of electricity or something that just makes it pop. I don't know if this is good or not, but it never happened before I got the avn6600 and it doesn't do it now. Hope this helps
Sorry truckskills but the factory sub needs a 5volt turn on signal, thats why the sub thumps on turn on. The tech needs to install a 1.5k ohm resistor in line on the remturn on. This will cure most if not all the pop.

I have a Z1 and the OEM audiophile sub and I keep periodically getting static of the OEM sub. Sometimes the sub will work but other times it'll stop working and a static noise will come over the sub.
At the idea of the company which makes the sub harness I grounded the black OEM shield wire that goes to the sub and this helps a little but it will still do it.
Right now I have a 5V reducer on the sub turn on wire with a .01uf ceramic cap in front of the reducer and then 3 .01uf caps after the 5V reducer. I did this to stop the sub thump.
What do you think the problem is?

The 12 volt egnition wire worked. If you need any help just let me know.
