f-150

Just finished my double din install on my 1997 F-150. Much more of a pain then I thought it would be, but overall im happy with the end result. Had to do quite a bit of cutting with a dremel.

That does look nice!

mark_1078, how does that head unit sound? I bought a head unit and monitor from those people, the monitor had a great picture and I have used it for over a year, recently sold it with another system. It was still working great.

The head unit had lousy sound, probably as good as a stock head unit but not in the same league with my Kenwood 622.
Then it died, suddenly at one week.
I had noticed it had poor quality connections. The vendor assured me that was not normal and refunded my money, but I didn't feel like trying another.
If yours sounds/works good he may have been truthful.
I am curious. Any insite?
Thanks
Chris

hey chris, the monitor is really nice (especially for the money) but the player isnt the greatest like you said. As far as sound goes its probably as good as the stock radio i took out which is good enough for me but I understand why most people wouldnt think its that great. I liked the alpine look to it. the only issue I have had with it is it doesnt always read my dvds. Im a little worried cause a problem like that usually continues to get worse. If you mean the rca plugs/jacks when you say connections then the only thing I noticed was they were kind of loose, they seemed to pull out pretty easy. Im just hoping they dont come undone and force me to take the HU out again. For the money I spent on it tho im happy with it. I just wish I had a double din like the newer f-150's.

Hi, on mine the antenna was messed up, fixable but wrong. The primary ground wire was loose and I soldered it.
I used it without an amp, so the RCA connections were of no interest to me. The unit was sorta picky about DVD's, but seemed to work OK, great picture.
Then it wouldn't play a DVD, and then suddenly nothing else worked.

They refunded my money, less the real high shipping. I've been leery of them ever since.

Also, they 'lost' my claim three times. Good news is the Canada Post Office has a very helpful website that was able to give me a copy of the signature of the person that received the unit. My wife made two-three phone calls and eventually got it resolved.

The monitor was quite good, not perfect but excellent for the price. I sold it cheaply recently as I am changing my whole system, and the guy that bought it loves the picture. That's after about 15 months use.
Best of luck with the system,
Chris
