Does anyone have a good source to buy Eclipse products? Specificlly I'm looking for an AVN5500. My local shops said that it's not out yet (even though it is, and wanted to charge me more than Crutchfield. I've seen a few on ebay but right now there is only one, and the ad seeds just a bit shady to me.

I just recieved my AVN5500 from Crutchfield today. Im in the process of installing it right now!! I just need to find the damn factory wiring diagram so i can find the speed senor,reverse,parking wires!! If anybody can help it would be much apprecitated.. Also i know there is a way of wiring it so that you can play DVD's while driving, something to do about the parking break wire. Do i just ground that wire to anything? THanks for any help in advance.

And Mikebaby good luck finding one, i'll you know what i think after i get this thing installed.

If you ground the parking Brake Wire, Dvd will work all time...keep in mind this can be DANGEROUS....(My Disclaimer)

Has anyone installed the Eclipse iPC-106???? I am also installing that and would welcome any advice before i take on the job. Thanks again !!

 

The reason for that is eclipse dealers are not allowed to sell the product online or mailorder per their dealer agreement. They stand a chance of losing the right to sell the eclipse line. I can almost guaranty you will not get a reciept,warranty,or customer support from that dealer once the purchase is made. If they are selling the product online it may also be from dealers that are going out of business or are no longer carrying the line or possibly stolen goods. Be very careful and suspect everything with these deals.

 

i grounded my dvd to the metal housing inside the dash around the radio, works so far, right now its just held to it with electrical tape, but i figure i will wentually bolt it down, i just didnt have any extra bolts when i hooked it up

EDIT- grounded it so that my son can watch movies on long drives, and would never recommend it be used for anything else, safety first...

 

Circuit City started carrying Eclipse products 3-4 weeks ago. My local store has the AVN5500 -- but you'll pay retail for it. They are also an authorized installer. No, I don't work for Circuit City for those of you asking that......

 

Sounddomain.com is carrying eclipse now as well.
