Wow, it worked.

I spoke with the shop that put mine in last May and he verified it! I used the blue "Auto Ant" lead. I just used a needle to push the retaining pin and removed it from it's original socket, put it in the slot as Brad said, grounded it and the parking brake lead and Presto!, I'm in business. What a difference, now it is truly the best NAV system out there!

Glad to hear that you have it working now! I agree, once the lockout is disabled, this is, in my opinion, the best nav system you can buy right now.

Doesn't look like the AVN crowd has had any representation...

To answer your early questions -- again, sorry I'm late showing up...

1. No idea. Seems like the AVIC is a nice unit though.
2. Having seen both, I'd have to say that they're on a pretty even kiel. Very similar honestly.
3. Yes to DVDs in motion. It's just as simple as what Bradley described above. You're just going to ground out the Parking Brake wire and you're in business. It absolutely, 110% works. I'm living proof.

So far, I absolutely love my Eclipse AVN5435. I've found very few faults but, one that I do continually note, is the lack of an update DVD. I'm told by the fine folks at Eclipse that something will be available this year but, they don't know when or how much she'll cost. Honestly, all in all, that's the only con that I've really consistantly seen.

The touch screen has been flawless... the graphics are very good... the color quality is nice and sharp... Sirius controls through the HU are simple and easy to use... I didn't loose my steering wheel controls with the addition of the SWI-ECL switch.... I installed everything (and I'm electrically challenged)... it was a snap honestly.

Feel free to blurt out any questions that you have and scroll through my mods gallery... there are several pics there (most of which are poor quality) but, give them a look if you'd like.

I've got the eclipse AVN5495 with the hard drive. I install nav systems for a living and prefer the eclipse over the rest for ease of use as well as warranty and quality. I install up to 10 a week and don't want to have to chase repairs. I chose the 5495 for the harddrive, cause normally i'd have cds all over the truck and can never find the one I want. The hard drive is awesome, I just set it to ALL RANDOM and let it play. All my cds are back in the house! As far as updates are concerned there should be one out soon. Don't compare the fact GM system entirely to the eclipse, there are many versions of software out there. The avn 2454 has the older software that I beleive is the same as the GM, the 5435 looks the same but has many updates. If your going to upgrade the rest of the system the preamp of the eclipse (5volts) is by far superior to the pioneer. 3 year warranty, ESN, 12band EQ, DVD movie, 3 sets 5volt rca's, etc. Definately a solid choice.

Seems like a good deal...

I went with Crutchfield only because of service, harnesses, and the finish kit.

By going that route, it just made it all a one stop shop... to me, it was worth it. Plus, I've had a few questions since ordering and also had a question or two during installation -- they were, in all honesty, EXCELLENT to deal with.

BTW, if you want to go the Crutchfield route -- I have a $20 coupon code that I can give you -- I know it's not much but maybe it'll cover shipping or something...
