iPOD scroll features

I'll add some additional pictures to my gallery showing the menu after choosing artist, song or genre. Playlist is the same, but I have only one playlist on the Nano.

Basically the unit provides a screen of choices that you can touch to choose. To the right is a scroll bar that allows you to page down or up for additional choices.

(Note : Scroll bar is only active with the parking brake engaged . I wired the unit correctly per the Eclipse instructions, but I will probably go with a bypass of the parking brake once I see a little more feedback on the AVN6600 to insure Eclipse hasn't change anything like Pioneer did with Z1 to make bypassing more difficult. Hopefully, it is still nothing more than grounding the parking brake wire.)

iPOD scroll features

Mikebaby,

I find that scrolling through the artist, song, or album lists is fast. After pressing the page down arrow the eight buttons will popup for the next screen blank followed almost instantly by the titles for for the button. Not as fast as the scroll wheel with an iPod, but a very suitable method for touch screen choices. The programmer edvidently buffers a small amount of the info from the iPod as if you page through several screens you will experience a longer delay before the titles are displayed in the button area. You can't press and hold the page down or page up touch screen choice. You have to continuelly tap the button. If you're fasy enough it will allow you to click in this manner without displaying choices and just see the horizontal location bar move downward. When you stop the rapid clicking your chocies are shown based on where you scrolled.

Eclipse doesn't include much detail information on the iPOD in the packaged Owner's Manual. In the user manual they have you go to http://www.eclipse-web.com for How to operate iPOD in AVN6600OPERATION-GUIDE/AUDIO. It is a 150 page PDF file if interested in more detail although I get pretty verbose on some of my answers.

i was thinking about getting the eclipse avn 5435. will the ipod adapter work the same way? i was on crutchfields website and they say that the 5435 and the 6000 will only have limited ipod function...it looks like yours has pretty good ipond function. here is what crutchfield says about the ipod adapter. also, on in the manual for the ipod adapter it says that unless the ipod adapter is connected to the sirius input it wont display any type of text. i would need to install it in the cd changer port since i plan on having the sirius tuner installed. if i install it in the cd changer input then i wont have any type of text from the ipod on my screen????

Controls: The CD7000, CD5000, CD4000, and CD3000 support iPod controller mode, allowing almost all of the iPod's functions to be operated from the main unit. While connected, the head unit will power the iPod, and charge the iPod's battery. You can perform playlist, album, artist, genre, or song searches. Playback functions include track up/down, fast forward/rewind, track repeat, track random play, and album random play. Display selections include song, album, or artist. If the main unit does not support iPod controller mode, you will have limited control of the iPod, including music advance, repeat play, random play, and text display. On these units, the iPod must be controlled in Changer or SIRIUS mode. Models that have limited iPod control include the following:

iPod Adapter

one028,

Having the AVN6600, which is an Eclipse model that supports the iPod controller mode, I only have the same reference material as you to determine the functionality the adapter provides for the other units. What you wrote is how I understand the Sirius or CD changer modes to be supported.

I would drop a note to nothingbutaford. I believe he mentioned in one of his postings he has the AVN5435. His advice helped me a lot with my choice and with the installation.

Wish I could help more, but I just don't have any hands-on with the other Eclipse models.

Someone mentioned that it does not work with the AVN5500, and Crutchfield removed the text from their website that said it did.

That was me. It flat out doesn't work no matter what Eclipse says and their tech support is horrible as well. That 6600 is pretty sweet and I am glad the Ipod adapter is working for you. :-) I returned mine and bought the backup camera instead
