Hello... I just bought my first truck ...a 2005 f150 fx4 supercab ... and I am in the market for a navigation system and I was wondering which is the best Navigation system on the market ...the Pioneer AVIC-D1 ,Eclipse AVN5435,Eclipse AVN5495,KENWOOD DDX8037 ... I am not good when it comes to car audio thing ... so ...if you could be so kind to help me out with any info to help me decide which would be the best one for the money ... my brother bought the Pioneer AVIC-D1 one for his new f150 ... he said he chose the Pioneer because it was the cheapest one on the market ,but is it the best for the money ? I hope this makes some sence and I like to thank you in adance for any info .
Well
I just bought an 06 Lariat and I have the Kenwood DDX 7017 and 4100 nav unit.
I looked at them all. But I decided right from the start, Pioneer was out. The stereo shop I purchased my stereo from, gave me the in's and out's of all the unit's.
Pioneer's D1: You have to be going less then 20 Km's(12 miles) under the speed and have the parking brake on. The Pioneer won't even work if your not hooked into the VSS(vehicle speed sensor). Plus the GPS will catch it too. So that threw out the Pioneer. If you can live with that. It's a great peice.
The Eclipse was very nice too. Picture was much more sharper then the Kenwood. But in the end it was the Kenwoods speed of the nav unit that got me. Because it has its own separate unit. With the DVD player running the nav unit still ran as fast as it did without the DVD player on.
Plus the stereo shop owner drive's a 04 FX4 and he use's the Kenwood stuff.
I've been dealing with him for 10 year's now. So, I trusted his opinion.
In short.... I couldn't be happier!!!

Eclipse 5495
To each their own but I think that eclipse has one of the best products on the market. With it 30gig hard drive its nav is one of theh fastest ive seen. I like the fact it doesent have the pop out, less stuff to break and rattle. The 5495 also has the music juke feature, as you play cds it rips them to your hard drive, you can make custom playlists, add, delete songs with the touch of a finger. The GPS / Nav is very accurate and has a ton of features.
Just my two cents
