Eclipse 5435 DVD Play
OK...so I am about to embark on the installation process of my new Eclipse 5435 that I bought today in my 2005 F-150 FX4. This will be my first Navigational/DVD system to own, so I am very excited to say the least. I have been reading many of the threads on here about this unit and the installation of it and I still have a few questions if anybody is willing to help out...PLEASE.
One of the reasons that I chose this model is that we have been wanting to put a DVD system in for my daughter and I thought that I could take advantage of this situation and boost it all up at one time. I know that the factory installation does not allow for DVD play during driving, but from reading other posts, it can be done. This is the main question that I have here...
- Exactly what do I do differently to have DVD access while driving ???
Any other installation tips that can be offered are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time in advance!!

Congrats! I've had mine for about two weeks now, and while I love it; I'm still trying to get the hang of the Nav function. It seems like a lot of my destinations aren't on the DVD. I try to punch in the address, and it can't find it. Oh well. I'll figure it out.
As far as installation: I "accidently" hooked the parking brake wire up to the ground which is located on the outside wall of the truck, right under the parking brake assembly. It's tucked a little bit under the plastic kick panel, but is still accessible with a long socket.
I haven't hooked up the Vehichle Speed Pulse wire, yet. I'm still waiting for the remaining pieces to install (Sat unit, changer, rear camera). All Ebay purchases enroute.
I am also working on removing my ashtray, and using the flipdown door to hide a seperate 1/2 din DVD connected to the video in on the Eclipse. It was only $150 and will allow me to run DVD video to the headrest monitors and run the navigation at the same time. After all, Navigation is great for long trips while the kids watch videos.

OK...so I figured out what I needed to do. I think I was a bit afraid of this thing at first, but once I got into it...it's not so bad. I love the look of it an am now trying to get the hang of using it. Thanks for your help...I really appreciate it.
