ATTN MISSOURI! Anyone Done the Current River?

Has anyone canoed/floated the Current River? Can you suggest a good outfitter?

I have canoed the Current River with many groups in the past and used this place with good luck and good experiences:

HO-Hum Canoe Rental
417-588-1908

I have not been able to go in a few years but I am sure it is still good. I think my boy scout troop still uses them.

Kick butt! Thanks Green! That's exactly what I was looking for.

What time of year is best to go?

RP, I just floated the Current River 2 weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon. We went with Silver Arrow Canoe Rentals. It was great! Didn't see any drunks out like on some rivers, and the water was soooo clear and cold, I was told that it is fed by a 38 mil gal a day natural spring. When you go, be sure to check out the cave and to jump off the bluff about a 1/2 mile past the cave! Look for the muddy trail.

Thanks for the info!! I'm going to be in the area for around 3 months on a jobsite and definitely need to line up some stuff to do on the weekends or I'll go insane. The wifey plans on making a trip or two over so, I'll probably reserve the Current for one of her visits...

I bought a Missouri fishing license today... I definitely plan on taking advantage of that as well...

Our boy scout troop usually goes about this time of year after summer camp, it is pretty much the only time of year that I have been. Give Ho-Hum a call and I am sure they can fill you in on details of the best time of year. It was hard tracking down that phone number the other night when I saw this thread, but I am sure it is the correct number.

That makes two of us. LOL. My job is about to drive me into the ground... I desperately need time away.

I know how it goes. I am in the screenprinting/embroidery/boy scout supplies/girl scout supplies business with a store, and do printing work/computer work on the side, and just finished with some printing at 4am (got to the store at 9:30am). A break would be good, but this is our busy time of the year with back to school.
