:beers: :beers: Makin' my first post...Bought an 'o2 FX4 last month. Best truck I've ever owned. I've had 'em all at one time or 'nuther. This truck rides like a cad, scoots like a bitch and goes where ever I take her. Living back here in wild country a guy needs to be able to count on his machine.

I live north of Pella, and work at Vermeer Mfg. I'm planning several trips to NE Iowa for trout fishing and grouse hunting. Looking forward to a trip to arizona at Christmass and a trip to NY state in the spring for some bear hunting.

Hey HWK... can you tell me anything about John Deere's Davenport works? Pretty good reputation within the town? Know anything about the Dubuque works?

Hey RockPick, I'm from the Waterloo area and just started at the John Deere Engine works a little over a year ago. My dad retired from John Deere's eight years or so ago as a supervisor. I was hired in as a wage worker, the benifts are real good for health care and dental etc. I did have to start for less $$ that I was making, but I have less of a drive and the insurance makes up for that. The Davenport works deals with construction equipment. I have been there for a tour and did a ride and drive that they put on for there suppliers. I worked for a job shop before I came to JD that made parts for them.
What's up with the questions about John Deere? If you have any certain questions I can try to find out for you.

 

Well, I can't really go into why I'm asking all the questions about JD as nothing is on the table as of yet but, I've been talking with them about a position at Davenport/Dubuque. They're in their 2-week shutdown for the year at the moment but, I might hear something when they're back in...
