Thanks Pony. As soon as I can get the check book away from the wife I may be calling on you. Sorry to hear about that 12.5 mpg. I know how it feels. That's why I have the POS Kia to run back and forth to Yorktown. Thanks for all of your info.

I deffinately would advise the coolant flush. Not realizing, my coolant bottle had broken and began sucking air into the motor. Coolant turned bright rusty orange, killed the water pump and loaded the motor with crap. Flushed and changed all the coolant, lines, water pump and thermostat and two days later and about 100 miles the damn thing blew both head gaskets. So, to make a long story short, keep an eye on the coolant color and make sure it cannot get any air in to form an air pocket. Head Gaskets are not fun or cheap at all on these motors. Did the E- fan kit you bought have two "puller" fans, or a "push" and a "pull" setup?

Ptown here. Former Army too 75B I got out right before 9/11 on medical and now im working at the Ford Plant in Norfolk. I just bought my 05 Lariat SC on Saturday and threw on some 22s the next day. Looking to get a chip or exhaust next. Anyone have the superchip in their 5.4? Is it worth it? Thanks.

Hey man, welcome! Congrats on the truck, I know you will enjoy it. I put the Superchips Tuner on mine last year, and I can say it did allot for the response and tranny shifts, but I still have'nt justified the 300 bones I had to shell out to get it. So, is it worth it? Not really if I had to do it all over again, but I can say that I like it allot and am not planning on getting rid of it. I have only ran the High Octane on it once for about a week and was not impressed. When I got mine, I went off of what allot of people here were saying how great it was, but like I said, I was a little let down by it. Now, don't get me wrong, you will see an improvement, just not what you will hear allot of people say they are getting. Maybe if I ran the High Octane more it would be worth it, but I can't afford the Low Octane, must less the High Octane...... The Throttle response and Tranny shifts were the biggest improvement and I can say I am very pleased with those. Anyway, good luck, and if you are in NN, look me up and I will let you see first hand how it performs. Again, congrats on the truck....I know you will like it.

Randall

Hooooo-lllle chit. Just got back from a killer trip/vacation in KY and IL. Had an unexpected death in the family, trip extended, etc etc etc. Got home in the middle of the night Tuesday and am under the 8 ball on everything. Welcome to our new mmebers! Glad to see you all here. When I get a chance I'll post my numbers and figures for gas mileage on the trip, it's good stuff.

Hey Pony! Welcome back. Sorry to hear about the Death... How was the trip? Where in KY and IL do you go? My wife and I just got back from a 3500 mile trip from here to Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, VT, NH, Bar Harbor ME, and so on back to here. Took the Honda though, wouldn't have been able to afford the gas in the "Heap" truck. Anyway, glad to see you made it back safe.

Thank you sir, Jim was a great man.

Shelbyville KY and Erlanger (Grandparent's house) and Pine Hills camp ground in Wolf Lake IL. Had a great time aside from Jim passing. You can't buy a good time like I had.

I'll throw out my finding from memory now as I have to go to Lodge tonight and I'll be in MD tomorrow.

Specs:
Truck 2001 F-150 XLT Super Crew, 4WD, 4.6 3:55 rear
Contents: 2 adults, 2 children, 2 car seats, 1 play pen, one diaper bag, one 500lb bag of food and snacks, LOL bottles of water, blankets for both kids, one pillow, 1 Kimber Ultra Compact CDP 1911, 1 G27 w/ spare mag, evergerncy kit, 1 spotlight, 1 fire extinguisher and some other stuff. In the back, 1 large tupperware container with 1 6-person tent, 1 queen sized inflatable mattress, 1 mattress inflater, 4 D cell batteries, 5 tent stakes, 1 coleman 2 burner propane stove. One milk crate containing 1lb propane bottles, 1 gallon of white gas, extra trans fluid, oil, hammer (tent stakes), and frying pan. Anoter milk crate holding a first aid kit an ammo can holding my tools (works great) tow strap, receiver stuff, 1 cot, 1 stroller, 1 bag of mine, everything my 11 month old son has in this world, two bags for my wife and other son, cooler with another pan, ice, hot dogs, coke etc, and some other stuff. Basically the lid BARELY closed. (Coming home I had to sit on it to get it to close!)

Off the top of my head from Norfolk up 64W past Richmond @ 77mph I averaged 16.2 mpg

A 50 or so mile stretched to Staunton yielded similar results IIRC

From Staunton into WV I averaged 14.2mpg, BUT realize that I was doing 75-80 up and down mountains! I mean steeeeep mountains.

I don't recall what I got across WV right now, but check this next part out.

From Juuuuust inside the KY border to Shelbyville I@ 65mph (cruise control) I averaged 18.75mpg!!!!!!! The best I'd ever done before was 17.9, and that was empty.

You might want to delete that number and provide an email. Lots of sickos in this world. Not to mention it might run up your verizon wireless cell phone bill.

BTW, anyone else "in" (verizon that is).

O and you may have better luck under the classifieds section on selling or trading that running board.
