Hey i saw your truck on here, i have a 2009 F150 with a 2" readylift leveling kit and im looking at new tires. I am going to keep the stock 18" rims and i am pretty sure you have/had 295/70/r18 on yours. Do you know if they would rub with my 2" level? thanks for the help
When you had your Truck with a leveling kit and 34 inch nitto trail grapplers you didnt have to do any trimming right? What was your offset and back spacing so you were able to clear those without any rubbing
There is a clear coat, however, the underlining veneer is (as per the body shop) a multi-layer clad that is bonded to the plastic.
Saw a Discovery channel episode on chrome plating and there was a section on plating plastic. The company/plant that was highlighted made the grilles for FoMoCo and in the background I noticed a rack of Platinum grilles on the line. Contacted the company and asked -IF- by chance I could purchase a blank, unplated grille ... NO WAY. Back to topic ...
So ... The surround needs to be scuffed (DO NOT go thru the veneer) and as you noted an adhesion promoted used.
As for mine holding-up ..... It's been 2 years and I've had to touch-up a couple of very small chips (ballpoint pin size) caused by peagravel/road-debris, but other than that ... No problems.
