Air suspension conversion?

I replaced my Air suspension bags when I purchased my Blackwood and everything was running good until yesterday I heard a whistle sound. I was driving by a construction site so I chalked it up to them.

Today the check suspension came on and the rear end was only of a 1/2 inch or so. So I crawled underneath and found the passenger side popped off the bottom seat. Its not cracked so I dunno how it happened but the tire rubbed a whole in the bag. Un real!

So now instead of getting a replacement bag for 399, I was wondering if anyone had converted their Blackwood to springs?

If so, does it ride noce and also where did you get it at?

Thanks

I was told a f250 coil conversion kit would work although he said the struts that come with it are too long but I could use the springs no problem. I cnt really think straight right now but it looks like it would work. Any thoughts?

Didn't the blackwood already come with fiberglass mono leaf spring in. Guess air was optional?

Rear should be able to be setup like any other 97- 03 F150 with standard steel leafs

Yes it has leaf springs in it. I took the air bags out for now since one is ruined. I just wanted to get it set up for when I haul a boat. The air suspension would adjust the ride height so it wouldnt sink when you hook a load to it.
Thought coil springs would do the job as well since I dont want to keep sinking money into air bags. If this was the first time I would just replace it but twice in a years span is not my idea of financially feasible. lol
I know the 2003 F-150 supercab has the same chassis, just wasnt sure if there was an actual kit somewhere hiding in obscurity. haha

I'd just get another set of "helper bags"
They're only like 200 ish

Are the leaf springs the same as any other F150? If so, those should be sufficient, they'll just sag a little when towing.

No, blackwood got fiberglass mono leaf spring instead of the standard steel leaf pack

Thanks. I did just find the bags for 200. Before I could only find them for 400 a piece. So I'll be getting another one here shortly. Preciate it.

Fiberglass? Jeez. I had no idea they had all that different stuff on them. I thought they only changed aesthetics for the Blackwood. Guess that's a better justification for their high price back when they were new.

Air Suspension Conversion

Has anyone here done a conversion from the air ride to a coil and spring on a Blackwood? I am considering this for mine.

Did you find out if anyone sells a conversion kit from Air Ride to Springs on your Blackwood? That’s what I want to do.

Jim, this is a nine-year old thread. I suspect they've lost interest.
