non blackwood owner asking a couple question

i would like to ask a couple questions about the BLACKWOODS:

how many miles an hour (top speed) does the speedo go up to??

I was also wondering if a blackwood will out accelerate a 5.4 powered F-150 supercrew of the same year (not out tow but out accelerate empty)??? I'm considering a navigator / blackwood 4 valve head swap (with cam, MAF, injector upgrages and a custom tune) onto my F-150 and everyone it seems is trying to discourage me and I cannot find any blackwood 1/4 mile times to compare to a supercrew. I also like the dash of the blackwood but cannot find any close up photo's of the guages themselves

thanks

the wife ran 16.16 in the 1/4 with just a jlp ram air cold air intake. theres more to a head swap than you may realize. unless you have access to the whole longblock than its going to cost you some money for all the misc. parts you'll need. the front engine/chain cover. then if you just swap those heads on to your existing block then your going to lose a whole compression point. ex. if you were at 9.0:1 you'll be at 8.0:1 compression. you'll lose alot of hp there. unless you plan to supercharge it.

in a nut shell unless you swap in a navi motor i would suggest just putting a blower on it. it would be cheaper.

i have a highly modified Lightning an 05 Mustang gt and the wifes Blackwood so i think i can honestly think i have enough knowledge to agree with your friends.

BTW, that was at 88 MPH at the traps. I know my Wood has been up to 100 a couple times.

THANK YOU FOR THE PICS AND THE INFO

the guages are nice but I think I am going to start looking at aftermarket ones again...

if I went with the 4 valve engine I'd use a cobra mustang intake (probably with the spacers) lighting supercharger and change cams, build the short block forged internals etc on the navigator block...

thanks agian

a Lightning supercharger wont bolt up to the Cobra lower intake. just remember if you decide to go that route make sure your engine builder knows you want to go with 4valve heads(compression). the navigator and Lightning cranks are forged. the 2valve 5.4's are not forged.

why not just go turbo?

what are you goals powerwise?

i would like to see around 350 RWHP and near 400 RWTQ without forced induction.

I was thinking dynatech long tune headers and high flow cats, patriot pefrormance stage 3 heads, comp cams 102200, a 75mm throttle body, 42# injectors, new fuel rail system and an ignition upgrade might come close to my goals. of course a custom tune with an Xcal2 or a Diablo tuner

I wanted to add a new look to the dash guages and the Harley Davidson one in my '03 says supercharged on the tach, and the lighting has the boost guage, so i guess I'm lookin in the aftermarket world if the lincoln dash won't intgerchange.
