Any other original owners still hanging around?

Just curious if there are any left besides myself.
15,000 miles. Still looks and smells new! Garage parked / non-smoker. Sounds like an ad, doesn't it?
Haven't had any issues and it still turns heads like the day I bought it. All completely stock and original.

Yeah, I'm still around. I check in here occasionally but not much of interest for a while. Seems like the only ones who post on the "Blackwood Mark LT " forum are those who want everyone to know how much they don't like them ..... Oh well.....
I live in a small town just outside of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. I have seen one or two "Woods around the area but they are pretty rare. Came home the other night and saw one in the driveway of the house on the corner of my street. The guy had just moved in that day from New Jersey. What are the odds...

I'm still here. 37700 miles, looks like it needs a good cleaning & wax job. Doesn't smell. Driveway parked daily driver of the mom of 2 (& its hauled a bed of dirt 100+ miles). Still runs great & I can't wait to get it to the track again.

Evening old and dear friends:
Well, no, mine is now gone some 10 months but I really enjoyed her.
A bit strange, really, but the Navigator is quite a bit more practical but a lot less fun and, of course, is a rather typical SUV of which there are bazillions on the road nowadays.
Other than the cargo capacity, the Blackwood was one of my most favorite vehicles. If my dealer had been a bit more aggressive on the buyout price, I might have taken the plunge after the lease ended. As it turned out, they sent it to auction and FMC lost a bundle on it.
In my opinion, a nice piece of automotive history and a fairly good investment if you can hang on to it for a while and consider the normal depreciation.
Maybe that is why I still have two 1956 F100 pickups sitting in my driveway. Waiting....waiting.
Glad you are still enjoying yours.

I've been reading the old original posts, as time permits. I bought Dad's Blackwood last week.. He'd had it just shy of one year. Build #1786. Not much of a truck but it sure is one stupendously fine luxury car. I want to put some softer shocks on it but aside from that it's fantastic.
Anyway, you guys had TOO much fun, what with the wood jokes and all. Somewhere I ran across an official looking count of 3352 blackwoods built. A small number to be sure. I plan on keeping this truck a long time. It was just one of those things, I mean, how often is it that a major car maker comes along and names a brand new luxury vehicle after you? Just had to have one. No choice in the matter. Took a few years, but it was only a matter of time.

Glad to see that there is still interest in the Blackwood . Still have mine and still lovin' it. Took it in for service and a salesman did everything but offer sex to get me in an LT........ Nuttin' doin'......
You had another post about softer shocks. Don't know about that but I wanted to lower mine and put an air suspension system in but I was told by the tech at Air Ride that its difficult to modify the suspension because of the automatic leveling and the stock rear air bags, so I left mine stock.

Hey, thanks for answering. I was afraid I'd missed the parade. Would you know if there is any sort of registry for Blackwood owners? It'd seem that with so few made that someone somewhere might have done something to keep track of them.

I still around & so is my Wood.
Not much of a truck? You can haul quite a bit if stuff in our beds. Trust me! To date I have FILLED my bed with rough stuff like dirt & rocks (several loads) to groceries & 1/4 cow. Latest load was a bed full of hey bales, corn stalks & 4 good sized pumpkins.
Oh & we've been towing the Lightning on an open trailer as well.

Sorry, no offense intended. As far as towing goes I expect it'd be tough to find something better, but I really doubt I'll be hauling around any engines, transmissions, greasy heads, electrical control boxes, welders or things like that unless I come up with a heavy duty mat/liquid tray first. Don't plan on removing the carpet from the trunk (sorry, I guess that was bed) so I really look at the Blackwood as more of a very large luxury car than as a truck. What I really want to do is make it ride softer. I guess if you can use it as a truck that's great, but I have a big old I-H 4x4 Travelall (very big SUV) that does the truck duties and a tandem axle trailer for the really nasty/open bed loads so I really don't have to use the Blackwood for that. What I do plan to use it for is promotion as a real estate agent, to get more name recognition, haul clients around in style, and use the GPS to find houses. Sales junk can go in the trunk....bed I mean. Might even be able to put a printer back there since there's a power port. So for that I think it has no equal. I just meant that for a truck to be used as a truck there are better choices for most truck type work. This one is going to be garage kept and reasonably well pampered.
Good to make your acquaintance though, I've read all of the old Blackwood posts so I'm somewhat familiar with the background here. How's that fresh air induction working out? Still getting better mileage with it? I've run a couple tanks of regular gas through mine and gotten 13mpg around town. I'll fill up tomorrow with some better fuel and do a comparison, then crunch the numbers to see which way is more cost effective. Something like what you did seems like a real good idea to me. I don't run it hard so pinging doesn't seem to be an issue. The truck has 38,000 miles on it, guess I'm responsible for about three of those and it looks practically new. Assuming the RE business does not go bust I'll most likely let the boys fight over it when I'm gone. OTOH if all goes well I may have to get them their own. It's a new venture and I think it'll be fun. And I think owning a truck such as this would be a great thing, even if it wasn't named after me.

No offense taken, I just like pointing out that it can be used as a "real" truck when one itsn't available. Hubby still missing having a "real" truck, like when he needed to haul an axle that was too big for my bed (you can call it a trunk without offe4nding anyone). As for the towing, we currently have a toterhome & stacker trailer that we are trying to sell so we can downgrade. Until hubby sells the Mustang for another "real" truck we will have to use the Wood for towing duties.
My Wood is my daily driver. It hauls me, the kids, the groceries , sometimes the dogs & I use it to haul fellow students to regional conventions across the state (& in the spring down to Nashville).
The induction kit worked great until I ripped the wscoop off trying to get through a plowed snow drift in front of my driveway. I floored it & got through but the scoop wasn't as lucky.

That's pretty funny. Well, not really I guess. Had an odd thing happen today, coming home with my younger son (10) and we started smelling something like a burned resistor or circuit board. So I turned off the cruise, radio and heater and then it went away after a bit. Ever heard of anything like that? I guess it's possible for it to have come in from outside but that's a really odd smell to find outside anywhere.

Thanks, I'll check it out, maybe tomorrow. I see you're in Ft Lauderdale, must be a few Blackwoods down that way. Last summer we went to Disney and on the way back ran alongside another one for a short time. Pretty cool really.

I had never seen one on the street until I bought mine @2 yrs ago. I live in a small town just north of Ft. Laud. 3 mos. ago, a guy moved in at the end of my street from New Jersey. Guess what he drives.....What are the odds. There is at least one more in my town. Almost makes me want to sell it. Good thing is that the local cops can't tell if its me tearin' down the road (unless they see the pipes sticking out the side).Still gets comments though. I was in West Palm Beach last week and a guy in a Rolls Royce pulled up next to me and started asking about it. He didn't want to trade, though.
Oh yeah, someone told me that a local bail bondsman drives one. That info. might come in handy some day.....

Have you met the guy down the street yet? (Or the bail bondsman) I think it would be a fun thing if you can get along OK with him. I think I'd like to know of somebody else with one within a reasonable commute. But that's just me.
I stopped by the local Ford dealer and had them look up the recalls, or "campaigns" he called it. Nothing outstanding. He said the cruise problem was a couple years earlier and had been resolved. Anyway so far it hasn't come back. I was driving by the Nabisco bakery at the time, usually they smell like cookies but if that was the source I don't think I want to know what they were baking that smelled like an electrical fire when they overcooked it. Mmmmm... Good!
