Cool New Member

New member so I hope I don't mess up. Have a Blackwood with 19,980 miles. So far so good, looking to install dual exhaust and side steps. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome welcome. There are a few on here that have put sidesteps on (jimsfausn) comes to mind. Find a post with him in it & he should have a link to his galleries. I think someone else has done a dual exhaust (maybe Bill Murry). I'm sure they will all stop by shortly to give their info.

Thumbs up

Jim

Thanks for the info, I took my wood to a local muffler shop and they said they could split the pipes out the back.
I see you did yours out the side, was that easier or just the way you wanted them.

Luis,
I put the F150 Harley Davidson system on. It's hard to get
them now for you need a vin no. from a harley truck to get them
from a Ford dealer. I was at my muffler dealer and a guy came in
in a Harley truck and wanted a differ sound so I got his.
OH my web site is:

http://www.jimewalker.com/blackwood.html

That's the page for my WOOD. their's about 36 more pages in my web site. At the bottom of the blackwood page their a link to my Link page that has the listing of all the pages in my web site.

Hola Luis

Very welcome!!!

Mine has a Superchips chip, Air Force One filter and the exhaust which is a single inlet, dual outlet setup with a Magnaflow muffler.
One muffler only.

Sole problem noticed with the exhaust is we took it on it's first highway trip (2,100 miles) since installing the system and it has a nasty resonance between about 72 and 76 mph which is my normal cruising speed on the Interstate. I had to either cruise at higher or lower speeds or it gave us a headache. I am thinking of installing resonator tips in place of the present ones, Borla makes a dual out let resonator, to see if that helps.

One interesting thing, in Virginia which has a strict traffic enforcement policy, I ran at about 65 mph for a few hundred miles and for the first time ever got decent mileage, about 18.7 for that stretch. Cruising above 75, I always get in the low 16s.
Still get 12.5 in town.
Enjoy your new ride.
Bill

Thumbs up Nice

Bill

Looks nice, I went to another local shop and he has a engine setup with 5 different kinds of mufflers attached to it. He runs the engine and opens and closes the outlets so I could listen to the sound coming out of DynoMax, Flowmaster or Borla. Borla sounded pretty good but I guess I won't know till I run it down the road.

Thanks to all you guys for responding with info and pictures, I got more info here in one week verses going out to another sites for the last two months.

Out of the 4 or 5 different truck boards I go to this one has by far the largest collection of Wood members (active or inactive).

So what are our numbers now? 9? 10?

Count me three

Build #37

But I think the Texas folks have us outnumbered. Also a lot of the Blackwoods on E-Bay are out of Texas. Must be a lot of oil men and movie stars down there.

Hey Luis, I put on a stainless steel flowmaster 40 series single in dual out on mine. According to my muffler shop here in Hawaii by the way is the number 1 shop in the islands, the flowmaster 40 series has little more horsepower than the borla and since its stainless steel it also has a lifetime warranty like the borla. The muffler sounds nice and deep. I get a lot of compliments on how it sounds, the only thing for me is that it resonates in the cab from about 25 mph to 50 mph but cruising at 55 mph and higher it just has a quiet low hum.
