Why you should not get the extended warrenty
A couple of weeks ago a guy called me from an extended warranty company (not Ford). I listened to his pitch even though I was not interest. I just wanted to see what kind of price he would come up with.
He went through the whole spill and then ask what kind of 2000 F-150 did I have. I said, "A Lightning". He said, "Man those are nice trucks". He then asked me to hold on while he got the prices. He then came back to the phone and asked if it was an SVT. I said, "Yes". He then said, "I'm sorry we don't cover SVT's". I then said, "OK, Bye". I hung up and started laughing with my wife giving me a funny look like what was that all about.
I have a feeling that's the way all of these companies feel about SVT vehicles. People usually drive them harder which makes them more likely to break. You don't make money paying to fix broken vehicles.

I don't know if this fits in this thread or not; but, the dealer that sold me my truck gives 10yr-100,000 miles warranties on all their vehicles except the Roush and Steeda vehicles. The Lightning is the only SVT vehicle that is not included. Hmmmmmm.
Wow. A 10 yr. 10,000 mile warranty. That's pretty good. I would think they would have to wrap that into the cost of the vehicle though. Like they saying goes, "their are no free lunches". Bottom line is, do the shopping and evaluate the cost of the vehicle and any perks or extras you are getting, then shoot for your best deal after everything is added up.

Is that in canadian years or something?
I paid 2300 for the 6yr 100k Ford ESP. it's worth my piece of mind.

Ricekicker,
I was using the Readers Digest condensed version for speed reading.
As for reimbursemnet on your extended warranty, I have heard some may be sold back if no claims, but probably at a penalty. You should read through your contract, as I would think they would have a spot in their for cancellations. You might also want to check and see if it is transferrable which should help enhance the selling price or if you purchase another Ford, maybe you can transfer the warranty to it. Why are you selling it?

Wasn't there a post sometime back about being able to buy the Ford ESP plan from someone (as in not your dealer?). I seem to recall it... Anyway, I do know that we can bargain the heck out of the dealer for them, that the price is not set in stone.
FWIW,
happy holidays to all my Lightning brothers and sisters!

Has anyone actually pulled off cashing in not used waranties. The reason I asked is b/c I just sold my lightning and it had another 4 yrs and about 50,000 miles left on the waranty. I was reading up on it and it was telling me that I was supposed to take it to the dealer that I bought it from and they were supposed to get the money or something?
