I just had my Ford parts guy order me a new 03 steering wheel and when it showed up, it was the same as the 01-02 wheel.

Ford lists the p/n for the 03 the same as the 01-02? You say it was perforated?

Thanks

Yes

take a look at the one that was on Ebay and it has perforated I guess is the word for it leather wrap on it. that was the only difference I saw. I am referring to the grips.

Sounds like they haven't had the chance to update the parts number for the 03.

I may have to get one of those. At the SVTOA event this weekend, I was hanging onto the steering wheel so hard holding myself up that I permanently wrinkled the leather.

Someone posted a Sonic Blue L. Only thing is, the color does some weird stuff. In pics you can't see it but that color takes on a purple look in sun light. Looks good on a Mustang, but I think it is a bit much for a pick up truck. JMHO.

What's special about the '03?

I haven't read up or anything.
Are they bumping up the HP to compete with the new Ram RT @ 450 HP / 500 lb. ft.?

I think the new Ram is gonna smoke the L, as bad as I hate to say it....

The good thing is, there won't be many Ram RT's on the road at $50,000 per copy.

I really dislike the new leather on the wheel, I think I'll keep mine how it is. Now the door handles on the other hand are bad ***. I like the chrome Harley ones but they dont match all the satin pieces I have, these 'o3 ones look like a perfect match..... PART NUMBERS!...NEED PART NUMBERS!

you are kidding right? I can't wait untill I see one of those overpriced turdwagons on the road. Stock for stock, yeah, I supposed they should beat an L, but my truck will remain stock only for as long as it takes me to drive it into the shop

Oops, I was wrong!

Dodge Ram SRT-10 Ram Viper
(As stated in the July/August issue of Truck Trends)

SAE horsepower, HP@ RPM 500 @ 5600
SAE torque, lb-ft@ RPM 500 @ 4600
6-Speed Manual (That'll give the Lightning some wins right there, most people can't drive a stick properly- grind a gear, and it's over daddy-o.)

Estimated 0-60: 5.0 Seconds
0-80: 9.0 Seconds
0-100-0: 18.0 Seconds
1/4 Mile- 12.9/106 MPH (est)

Tires: 305/35/24's, BFGoodrich, g-Force T/A
Base Price, (est) $50,000

If that comes true, when they really get to test it, stock for stock, it'll toast an "L". Ford's gonna up the ante I think. Then again, they didn't have to up the ante to run the GM F-bodies out of business with the Mustang. The Z-28 & Trans Am's have out-performed the 'Stang since 1990.

'02- Lightning- 380 HP @ 4750 RPM
450 lb-ft @ 3250
0-60- 5.24 sec.
1/4 13.75 @ 101.56 MPH

All statistical data from the July/August issue of Truck Trends.

The Lightning is still on my list of alternatives for my 2000 Expy.
