A little alarmed...

After I went to Jiffy Lube to get my oil change, the truck seemed to be drinking more gas than normal... So I decided to start watching it more. I just drove about 70 freeway miles, I when I calculated, I got 10.4 mpg.
This is scary... what could have happened?

This is the second oil change. The first one went fine... none of the noises everyone else seems to get... just real bad mileage.

Guapo,

I have been known to allow these quick lube joints to work on my vehicles.

In a word...LOOK OUT.....they are not real reliable. You may want to check under your hood to see if they left something disconnect or loose.

Kwick Car is the worst, these theives are making a killing ripping people off. The cheap fluid change is just the bait. Jiffy lube charged me for a fuel filter that they never even changed. Kwick Carp told a friend of mine that they needed to replace his calipers on his 23k F150 when what had really happened is they screwed up his rotors on a brake job he paid them for.

Check your truck. Lord only knows what they did to it. I overheard two clowns at our local Jiffy Lube talking about throwing a different grade of oil in a guys car than he requested. One guy told the other to just tell the guy he got what he requested. Said the DA wouldn't know the difference anyway.

IF i do take it to a place like that, i over see EVERYTHING i watch them put the bottles of oil in, what filter they put on, and i make sure they put the plug back in right and check the oil level. i get home and check it again. of course i do work next door and they give me a heck of a deal if i talk to the right person, and they certainly know if they broke my truck i would come over there and break someones nose

well

ha ha i totally understand. i work at a Mr lube, the main canadian one. I dont trust alot of guys there. Most dont know **** about cars. I sell better because i understand what the hell im talking about. Plus when anyone comes in with a nice or modded car i know wtf im talking about, i can usually name most of the mods they have. Some guys arn't trustworthy worth ****. I have multiple customers who only let me touch their car. i drive a stang and run my local stang club. Most nice cars i keep an eye on too to make sure they dont fubar. Most ppl are surprised that i go online and know all these car sites they visit

Many guys i have seen fired because of ripping ppl off. Just because they can't sell that much (ie. no one is buying a trans/rad flush when they need it) I WILL NOT rip ppl off, i sell enuf without having to do that. I tell ppl whats most important and what can wait, not what makes me the most bonus.

All the job entails is doing a oil change and trying to get the cheap sob to put some $$$ into his car before stuff breaks. Its an easy job once you know it.

If anyone wants work done and you live on vancouver island lemme know. I'll give you 10% off

also if you know anyone on the island with a stang send them my way

Dude from now on, change your own oil. It will be cheaper (w/ synthetic) and less worrying.

For checking, if they only did the oil then get under the truck and make sure the oil pan drain plug is tight, and make sure the oil filter is hand tight (maybe a little bit tighter depending on hand strength). Also check the oil level.

I had Valvoline instant oil change do my oil once in my stang (ok a whole bunch of times) They said 'hey you might need to change rear end fluid and tranny fluid(5spd) ) soo i was like ok do it, cost me 120$ for oil change rear fluid change an dtranny fluid change. SO they check radiator fluid whiles it hot, guy burned himself and had to go to ER, the fluid gun broke and they didn't fill tranny back up, i go to leave guy that burned himself took my radiator cap with him, i take a small trip to Bowling green, on teh way back tranny is makign noises, there was VERY little fluid in it, opened fill and stuck finger in and couldnt find fluid, turns out it was REAL low, no leaks...tore down tranny all bearins were scarred, not enough fluid, valvoline finally took care of it after 5 months all 1500$ worth...I have not been back since.

Look under the truck on the drivers side, right below the engine, you cant miss it.
