Depending on whats in there:

Motorcraft is white
Purolator PureOne is blue

and other colors, pictures, and all the info you could use on filters can be found here:

Just a sugestion,

For Christmas spend a 100 bucks for a Dinner for Two to the Best Restaurant in Town for your tech at the Dealership.......Then have him give your Truck a through inspection including Plugs at each Oil Change.

I didn't learn my lesson the first time Jiffy Lube put a screwdriver through the hood of my Ranger by slamming the hood down on it. Their insurance bought me a new hood, but it was a pain.

A few years later one of the "techs" destroyed the airbox on my Lariat trying to remove the air filter. The truck had 3,000 miles on it. Their insurance paid again.

If you don't change your own oil, stick with the dealers. Their pricing is competative with the quick change guys nowadays.

Guapo: Let your L sit overnight. Get a shop rag and pull the 'oil level'(yellow handle on driver's side of eng--behind the p/str'g reservoir) indicator out of its tube. Hold it horizontal while in a brightly lighted area(outside is best if sunny) and check that the 'clean' oil is about 1/2-way between the Max. and Min marks down at the lower end. If the oil is up to the Max. mark or higher, they put too much oil in. They should have put 6 quarts in and it should have been a 5W20 or a 5W30 oil. If there is too much oil, someone(assuming you can't) could remove the oil filter and drain it. That would remove a little more than 1/2 quart of oil. If they put a 40 or 50 Weight oil in, that would increase your gas useage some but not as much as you indicated.

While the truck(and tires) is cold, check(if you have an accurate gauge) the tire pressure. They may have let some air out while the tires were 'hot' and they should have 32 psi 'cold'. Low psi will cut your mpg.

And last but not least, are you sure of your mpg calculations and the method you use?

Guapo:

Spend the money and get yourself a manual, thru Ford ( very expensive) or at a local parts store. IT IS REALLY simple once you get familar with what what under your truck. Remember...your the MOST concerned about your trucks well-being
