What is the top speed?

Sorry for what may be a stupid question. I don't own a Lighting, would love to, but at the moment just a reg. F150.

Anyhow, I got this guy at work that has the 2002 or 03 Honda S2000, he seems to think its the worlds fastest production car. I have done my research and found his Honda has 240hp @ 8300, 153 ftlbs @ 7500 (very weak low end torque) and a top speed of 150mph. Does the quarter mile in 14. 0-60pmh in 6.2sec

The Mustang Cobra has 390 hp @ 6000, 390 ftlbs @ 3500 top speed of 175mph. Does the quarter in 13.2, 0-60mph in 5.5sec

Then I researched the Lighting and found (F'n impressive if I may add) 380hp @ 4750, 450 ftlbs @ 3250 (serious low end torque). Does the quarter in 13.9, 0-60mph in 5.7sec.

All this research was done on the web as far as the data. My question is I can not find a "Top Speed" for the lighting.

It will be nice to tell this guy that a truck can beat his stupid rice rocket. That is not meant to be offensive as in a truck beating his rice rocket, but when you think about it and his stupid comment about worlds fastest production car costing 33k and a truck that can haul a nice camping trailer, race car or what ever you want is pretty damn sweet to say, "you can't be a Ford truck"

Thanks for any help on the TOP SPEED>

The Lightning top speed is advertised at 145 mph, which Ford claims is "drag limited". That means at that point, the vehicle no longer has the power to overcome the aerodynamics. I have personally reached just about that speed in stock trucks, so it's valid. A few bolt on goodies, and it'll do over 150. However, after about 120-130, it takes quite a bit of time to get to 145 . It is impressive for sure, but you're not going to be beating sports cars on top speed.

SVT states the top speed for the lightning is 140. However i'm sure many of us have gone beyond that

Thanks for the replys,

"It is impressive for sure, but you're not going to be beating sports cars on top speed."

That may be true, but "as advertised" it beats his sh*t box for the 0-60mph, and 1/4 mile times. May not be by alot, but from my perspective VERY impressive for a truck weighing what? 4 - 4.5k to his "return for depoist" 2800lbs tuna car...

155 mph at 5000 rpms in overdrive,, redline is 5500, you could probally get there with a chip that removes speed limiter and some bolt on goodies, i've had mine to 153 according to the odometer trick that read 155

True, but the trucks don't drive themselves

No speed limiters on the trucks. Drag limited only. He can always compare to Ruslow's rig. He is looking at bumping up to the 180mph class in the Silver State Classic. That is 180mph average for 90-100 miles.

Actually Ive had 2 of my trucks at 140.They actually do pick up pretty darn good even after 125.And as much as our trucks weigh/power ratio is,Even FAST production cars are not extremely faster above 125.They might be 150-200 feet ahead but I dont think thats alot.

Now even though the honda is quick, and has better aerodynamics,Its also a 4cy which doesnt have any grunt up top.

its all about weight/areodynamics/power

THANKS ALOT for all the replys. Though I don't own a Lighting (damn-it), I will one day, anyhow it sure is nice to tell someone "know-it-all" with his "my car is the fastest production car made" that a TRUCK will still beat his "rice-mo-bil".

This guy HATES Fords, so it was nice to show the real numbers on the Lighting and Cobra against his numbers.

This guy was telling everyone his Honda S2000 had 400+ hp, did 265mph top speed. When he first tried telling me and some other guys I was like WTF, there aint no damn car that can do 265mph (production) especially that damn small, hell get up around 150-170mph in something with little weight and get a little wind and its SEE-YA.

What I find impressive is that the Lighting (as advertised) no mods, can beat this ricer, yet could tow probabley 4 of them stacked on a tralier, or what ever they want. In other words something that has a lot of speed, ton of torque, yet IF needed could be used for useful things, towing or whatever.

Again thanks for the replys.

The cop said he is going to put 160+ and wrote the actual speed underneith so if i decided to fight it in court the judge would see the actual speed and just take my liscence away.
And you think I would learn? nope.
4 Hours later I got a M.C.A (mandatory court appearance) all by the same cop.
