As long as you change your oil consistantly it does not matter.I use Mobil 1 but if you can get a good deal on syn Quaker State then go for it.
Consistent maintenance is the key.

Ive seen alot of 4.6 and 5.4 engines with spun bearings with Quaker State oil and oil filters on them. I personally wouldnt use it in my lawn mower, but to each his own.

Quaker State Oil a.k.a. Pennsylvania Sludge!

Stay away from it in Mod Motors!

I agree 100% on this, especially for daily driving. Another way to look at it is this: if you change your oil with Mobil1 or Quaker State Syn, is your engine really going to know the difference?

The Orphaner: I think you care too much about your lawn mower. But thanks for reminding me about mine. Since I bought it two years ago, I haven't change the oil. Oh well - it still runs great.

I am not a big fan of Quaker State oil.

I use Mobil One, if they are out of it my 2nd choise is Valvoline full synthetic.

Yeah Spike I agree with your comment, but its just that I have personally seen over 50 mod motor engines with spun bearings and 75% of them had Quaker State in them. I've always been a Valvoline guy though, but to me it just seems like the Quaker State oil doesnt work well in our application.

I have always known Quaker state to be like water, no viscocity at all. I have always ran Mobil 1 or Castrol synthetic. More Castrol than Mobil 1, because it is hard to come by Mobil 1 until recently. I used to only find it KMart, now it is at your local Auto parts stores.

I would strongly suggest NOT using Quaker State.

Modified motors that were raced hard (my guess) verses daily driver motor. That's the difference, IMO.

Would I use Quaker State in my race motor? No. It gets 3 1/2 gallons of new Redline every outing.

I spun a bearing on my 4.6 using Mobil 1. The funny thing was, i drained all the mobil out and poured in Royal Purple. The hard knocking went away immediately and i got another 12,591 miles out of the pig!! Wasnt pretty when i took the pan off

Mobil 1, Valvoline, Amsoil or Royal Purple is what i would use.
