Problem from last night:

Decided to take my truck out today since the weather has been pretty dry lately. Got on the highway and I noticed the OD light on the shifter was blinking. I came up to a stop light. When I started going again, giving it very little gas, the shift between 1-2 and 2-3 was VERY jerky and I could hear a slight knock. Then the shift into OD was normal. Came to another stop light. Started going again, same thing.

I drove my truck again and it started out ok. No flashing OD light, no check engine light. Trans was shifting normally. However after maybe 10 minutes of driving it will do what I mentioned above.

These are the codes picked up by the scanner.

P1744
Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit

P0743
Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Electrical

Any info or recommendations on these?

Thanks

Check over at the NLOC site. Factory Tech is a supporting vendor there. Good luck.

That sounds similar to a problem I had with mine. The shift from 1st to 2nd happened at about 1500 rpms and was real hard. Then the shift from 2nd to 3rd happened about 500 rpm's later. The OD light was flashing and the Service Engine light came on. I took it to the Ford dealer and they said (after a couple of days of trial and error) that one of the solenoids in the tranny had gone bad. They replaced the solenoid and I haven't had any problems since.

sounds like you need a new tcc solenoid. but I haven't rebuilt a transmission in almost 4 years, so maybe you should wait for a more up to date reply

later,

It's an electrical problem, may be the Solenoid is out, may be PCM sending the solenoid a bad signal, most likely the solenoid, part number is F81Z-7G391-?? I think on a 99 it's CA and 2000 up it's CB but I could be wrong, whatever year it is, if you replace it, get the 2000 up part number, it's completely interchangeable and thenewer one is more reliable, has a smaller filter screen to catch more gunk before it contaminates the solenoids.
Before you replace it, check all your electrical connections to the transmission, any of them being loose can cause solenoid errors.

Hope this helps,

G
