Yes I know that all motors will react differently to different mods. Some are stronger than others, but people are finding out the hard way if they have a weak motor. Yes I also now that you can have a safe tune and some motors will take added boost. But it seems to me that there have been a lot of people blowing rods with 6# or more of boost. You don't hear of many people blowing rods with a 4# pulley or less. So I think that the safety margin for most Lightnings is 4 pounds of added boost. I was thinking of upgrading to a 6# lower, but I think I would be safer to stick with my 4# lower, especially with the *****y California gas.

 

man i hope that's true because i have a 4# pulley...question does a chip and filter add boost too?...and if it does wouldn't that create the same amount of boost as a 6#????

 

Yes the filter will add about 1 to 2 pounds of extra boost, depending on the air and your speed.

 

I hope a #4 is a safe mod.. Thats the reason i chose it.. You have to remember some people race themselves at ever red light, there rear tires are as smooth a racing slicks and there front ones are still in good shape.. These truck will give out sooner or later, no matter what mods they have .. I have a few good friends with lightning and there in that class...

Hey brasil....Every motor is different and will react differently to mods. Basically though, these motors are inherently strong and can take a good amount of abuse...I have a very heavy foot...Heck, that's why I brought the truck in the first place. With my mods, my motor is making a solid 15 lbs of boost in this cool air here in NJ, and no problems so far.........UH OH, I hope I just didn't jinx myself, we are planning a trip to Atco on saturday....Well, we'll see what happens....
