My encounter with another L on the street.
Not only did they crank out about 4k per year, but didn't they make about 10 million of them in 2001 ?
There isn't a day goes by that I don't see at least 2 to 3 PER DAY here in Lost Angeles. Granted, we're the car capitol of the world...there is also not a day goes by that I don't see at least 5 Ferraris and half a dozen 911 Turbo Carreras either.
Still though, there also isn't a day goes by that someone doesn't stop me when I'm getting out of my truck , or ask me when I'm stopped at a red light..."what kinda truck is that?"
Always the same questions...What's a Lightning, is that something you did yourself? It came from the factory that way? How much does it cost? Etc. etc. etc.
So I guess they are still rare enough that they still draw atention>
PS I see we've got some new smilies...(but no dancing banana)

yeah 4K a year for 5 year adds up, but compared to all the trucks out there, it still isn't that much. it just seems to be they are concentrated in certain area's, and in other places they are really rare. Around here, i only see 2-3 Lightnings on the road a year. I see about 1 or 2 HD's a month around here, but other guys see like 4 every day. just be glad they are only doing ~4K a year with the L's, and not 12K a year like with the HD's. they keep making more of them every year, in 00 they only made 8197, in 02 they made 12,500 some. who knows how many 03HD's there will be
I think exclusiveness is a double-edged sword. Wanna guess what the aftermarket parts supplies are like for really rare cars?
Then again, it does suck to have two other Ls in a ten block radius of my house.

NOPE 1999 made
So you think if they made 5k a year they would be worth more?
Maybe you should sell your 02 while the resale value is high..;-)~~~ You want a Mustang anyway

Yes, I bought my SVO because it was rare, and Fast. They only made 9,844 of them. Also, there is specific number of cars made in certain colors with certain options that make them even more unique. That's also why I was initially in love with the 99' Lightning's. I thought they would only make them for a few years.

Actually, I think it was only 2001 where Ford got carried away and almost doubled the production run...
They brought it back down in 2002. THis year they only made 4726.
