Question on 2lb upper pulley.....
Question on 2lb upper pulley.....
Has anyone just installed a 2lb upper with the stock lower? I was thinking about doing this....no chip...just a 2lb upper, etc. I plan on most of my mods to be other bolt on's. I want to try and get in the 12's without a chip or large amounts of boost. Gonna do the Factory Tech VB, electric fan, JDM heat exchanger, TB, cold air, etc. Any input would be great. I am ssuming you can do a 2lb upper with no chip....do I need a different belt?

it's doable but at a risk of a lean condition. 1st thing you should do is dyno the truck with a good air/fuel hookup then add the upper and do it again so there is no risk.
Don't forget a good set of traction bars also to keep from hitting the drive shaft.

Yes you can do a 2lb upper with no other mods. The factory computer can handle that with no other changes.
And yes I used a 2 lb upper with a stock lower to break in my Lightning. With an air filter and 2 LB Upper you should easily pin the guage and have more than 10lbs of Boost.
"""IF""" you cut a 1.8-1.9 60ft time, you may be able to acheive the 12 sec run. However it just doens't make sense to not change the plugs and put a chip in. You want to address the Rev Limiter, Shift Points, Timing, A/F, and many other IMPORTANT area's of your tune though a custom program.
I don't know what year you have, but if it's an 02 I got an extra chip with an EXTREMLY SAFE TUNE ON IT, I may be willing to part with at a fair price.

Well actually, I am not sure I even want to do the pulley....I am looking to do all the bolt on's (that are worth it) and try my damdest to get the truck close to 12's. It may be stupid but it is my daily driver and I just don't want to risk a major expense from a breakdown somewhere down the road while I still have warranty. Maybe I am kidding myself but I am just looking for opinios and I appreciate your comments.
