2Lber with out chip?

After trading my 99 in for one with lower miles I've decided I don't want to chip it. I kept the 2lb PSP pulley off of the old truck. Is anybody sure if it would be safe to put on the 2lb without a chip or would I be flirting with disaster.
Thanks
Chris

what Blown said

I think you'd be safe up to a 4# pulley w/no chip - alot of controversy about that tho...

the program is rich enough to handle a 2lb pulley easy. I really don't think the computer compensates for any boost increase.

As RT said, the computer doesn't no what size pulley you have.
FYI....When I had a 2 lber on my truck, I had a friend hook it up to his emission machine and the exhaust was right on (Read NOT lean)

I've had a 2# & a panel K&N for about 6k miles now. Absolutely zero spark knock even when in the upper 20s

Stormyday,

I've got a PSP 2lb'er and filter and no chip. No problems, but I don't really notice much of a performance gain (maybe a 1/10th). The chip is definitely the key.

NLOC has a very active thread going on about this exact same subject right now. Check it out.

I thought as the temp gets colder, the temp sensor tells the computer to richen the mixture a little bit.

I disconnected mine and supposedly when that happens the cpu thinks its -20. Atleast that's what a ford technician told me.

I ran a 2 lb. with no chip, filter or plug change for 20,000 miles. When I changed plugs they were lookin good. To be safe I'd inspect the plugs or put new ones in and change the fuel filter regularly.

You can also buy an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and add more fuel if you want to put a bigger pulley on.

I have a 2# pulley that I use as a fall-back whenever I need to take the chip out for reburning or whatever. Runs fine with it, just not nearly as much fun as 5# + chip...
