SIRIUS vs. XM
SIRRUS vs. XM
Now that it has been out awhile, I would like to know what everyone thinks and the pro's and con's. Sound quality the same? Will they both survive?
My stereo shop is a Sirrus (sp?) dealer but it seems that XM is more common. XM is a little less but they say it runs many more commercials.
Thanks in advance.

sound quality is awesome,programming
is awesome so much better than fm.
and about commercials ,most music channels are commercial
free, the ones that have them are very little.
word of advice buy a head unit that is ready for
whatever one u plan to get, my friend has fm modulated
one on his factory stereo and there is some loss of
sound quality.

Personally, I prefer Sirius. It's $3 more per month, but no commercials. Not to mention, quality is spectacular, and so is content.
Only thing I like better about XM is the antenna choices... I wish I could get a cell phone-style antenna for Sirius...

Thanks for the input so far.
Banshee - I hear you on the antenna. That Sirrus thing looks like a small black horshoe crab (for those of you that have hung around sanbars in Florida).

I've had XM pretty much since its start. Great sound quality, few commercials on the stations I listen to. Liked it so much I added another unit to my other car. Now I have both an FM modulated one and a direct connect one. The direct connect is in the L, with all the bells, but truthfully I don't think my ears can discerne a difference.
Just a few comments (since i install them both)
XM, better reception in most large cities where tall buildings will block line of site
Why? Has to do with sirius has 3 satalites and far less land based repeaters, vs XM has 2 sats, and TONS of repeaters.
Sirius has a higher quality of sound, but in most cases you can't hear the differance unless you have a very nice stereo.
XM has more commercial channels, and also some of their channels are just rebroadcasts of local stations in LA and other places.
Sirius has less commercial channels. All of their content is done inhouse (with the exception of yopur major news stations)
XM has exclusive rights to the nascar channel (semi important to me)
There are lots more going both ways, I like my XM, and unless i change headunits i cannot go sirius. So remember your choice will also be based on what headunit you go wtih, and/or rf modulators.
