Big Problem
I have been having terrible detonation in my 99 L. I have 4lbr,diablo chip,full bassani exhaust,Jl Ram air kit,ngk tr6's,and I run 93 octane always. What is the deal what do I do to get this to go away? I live in KY so it doesnt get extremely cold it is in the 40's right now. if you guys can help I would really appreciate it alot. Paul

send your chip back for a less agressive tune. That should help out a ton, and take away the detonation for sure. Also, make sure to tell the tuner the highest octane rating you can get. And, make sure you fill your truck with that highest octane. Hope this helps a bit.

tell whoever tuned your chip about your problems, the rpm intervals they occur, etc etc. and they should be able to fix it no problem. they will probably adjust the fuel tables (add more fuel) and maybe pull back some timing...but you should be fine. also check your plugs to make sure they are gapped correctly and evenly....

You have a 99L----have you replaced the clamps on the in-tank fuel pump lines? How many miles on your fuel filter? If it's even partly clogged, you could go 'lean' at WOT and induce detonation.
Btw, even 40F could cause the PCM to add timing.........
How fresh are your plugs?
