Hit 11s? Will I get there?
Hit 11s? Will I get there?
My plan is to hit 11s without an aftermarket blower or nitrous. With the following mods, do you think it can be done?
6lb Lower
Chip
Filter Kit
Monster Box
Truk Tracs
Ported Plenum
Ported T/B
E-Fan
Water Pump
LTs
Bassani CB
TQ Converter
4.10s
Slicks
BR7s
JDMs Heat Exchanger
So, will I be there or will it take more then that?

It can be done...several are doing it already.
I am going to try on Dec. 7th myself but am adding NX 50 to insure I make it.
I have pretty close to the same mods (see sig) and come close with 12.26's at almost 110 MPH with no juice and 1.83 sixty foot times.
I am adding truck Traks and new MT 26X11.5X16's on American Racing 16X10 Aluminum rims to help get me there before putting the bottle to her.
If I can get my 60 foots down I SHOULD be able to hit the 11.99 mark with no juice.
I have also stripped the truck down to 4380 pounds (with me in it) to get it to the 12.26 times; running on the race side of the chip with 104 octane fuel, resetting the pcm memory before the first run (pulling negative from battery and turning lights on for 10 minutes). I had to remove the front sway bar, passenger seat, tailgate, bumper, even drained the washer fluid, folded in the mirrors and added melted ice to the intercooler tank right before the runs..
It is all decided in the first 60 foot...my trap speeds are pretty consistant around 108 to 110, the differance between a 12.2 run and a 12.8 run is a 1.83 sixty foot verses a 2.125

Sounds like a good combo, traction maybe the difference between low twelves and high elevens. How about some nitrous for insurance?
Just wondering, when will truck be running?
Will you be running it at Sac when it is running?
I'm hoping to run Sacramento some time soon.

You could definatley benefit from a plug change!!! I wouldn't run such a cold plug ( I know ya'lls gas is 91 octane, but those plugs SUCK, trust me I know )...You may not be able to tell around town, but if your ( if you dyno the truck ) dyno #'s are down about 10-15 HP I would be go for a plug change!!! Maybe a TR-6 would better suit your needs!!!
Track location/track preperation/weather dependant--bet you'd get it at Cecil..............
Chickin1: That's not my experience with BR7s and I have only a 5 lber. I've had them on for 20,000 miles and, yes, they misfire at low rpms but have been fine on the interstate, at the 1/4 mile, and on the dyno. I also get from14-15 mpg too. I have Densos on the bench but haven't felt the need to install them yet.

....but if you're just looking for times, stripping your truck of everyday items will get you the times you want. Hell, might as well take off the bed, the hood, and remove all the inside panels. Then we'd be like all the other rice boys who are trying to get into the 14's
My feelings are race full weight. Just 'cause you have a timeslip that says "12.2" doesnt mean that on the street when some Z06 wants a quick run you're gonna beat him - now you've got your seat back, bumper, tailgate, etc.. in and all the other everyday driving goodies. You're not going to ask the vette guy to wait a sec while you disassemble your truck
With the following mods in my sig, no ice or any other track prep, just 93 octane gas and a heavy right foot I netted those times. ON F1's.
If a timeslip is all you're looking for - strip your truck. If you want real world performace times for those spur of the moment quick street blasts, keep the truck all together. JMHO.

I think it is pretty much what everyone else said, it is traction. I don't know what your elevation is but I did it with a 4# pulley. FYI I picked up at least a tenth switching from Goodyear Slicks to Hoosier Radial Slicks. (29.5X10.5X15)
I use TR5s.
Max Power, I race with my Snuglid on. You may be O.K. with F1s but my best time is at a Track considered a Skating Rink and is much slippery than the street.
I don't get tickets I can't afford racing at the Track

reality1 - Ya I know it... been pretty lucky, but I tend to race to about the speed limit, and NEVER in any kind of traffic or dangerous conditions. A little fun every now and again isn't bad. I know all too well about keeping it under control. Once you have a child, your whole outlook on life and others around you changes as well =)
